VICE PRESIDENT SEWELL, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE HERE THIS EVENING AND MEET WITH YOU. MAY IS STATES NONPROFIT ASSOCIATION FOR BOARD MEMBERS.

ALL 24 SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE MEMBERS OF OF MAEBH. MAEBH PROVIDES BOARD SERVICES TO BOARD MEMBERS LOCALLY, AS WELL AS A NUMBER OF OTHER SERVICES TO SCHOOL SYSTEMS FOR WHICH HARTFORD DOES PARTICIPATE. HARTFORD IS A MEMBER OF THE MAEBH GROUP INSURANCE POOL AND THE MAEBH WORKERS COMP FUND, IN WHICH WE BRING TOGETHER SCHOOL SYSTEMS TO HELP LOWER THE COST OF TO PROCURE THOSE SERVICES, THOSE INSURANCE COVERAGES, SOME OF THOSE WE SELF-INSURE BECAUSE OF OUR SIZE, 19 OF THE 24 SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE IN THE GROUP INSURANCE POOL AND 17 OF THE 24 IN THE WORKERS COMP FUND. AND WE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON IS THAT WE ARE MEMBER FOCUSED AND WE DO ALL CLAIMS IN HOUSE, SO WE HAVE IN-HOUSE CLAIMS STAFF. SO OUR CLAIMS ADJUSTERS WORK ONLY ON SCHOOL SYSTEM MATTERS. ON THE ASSOCIATION SIDE, WE PROVIDE AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE. WE PROVIDE BOARD RETREATS. AT YOUR REQUEST. WE FACILITATE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT TRAININGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING TRAININGS ON THE OPEN MEETINGS ACT, TRAININGS ON HIRING AND FIRING, HIRING AND SUPERVISING A SUPERINTENDENT. AND WE ALSO PROVIDE A SERVICE WHEN REQUESTED. AND THAT'S TO HELP FACILITATE THE SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH. AND THAT'S WHERE WHAT HOW WE WHY WE WERE REQUESTED HERE TONIGHT. SUPERINTENDENTS FROM THE STATE OF MARYLAND. AND WITH ME TONIGHT, DOCTOR KELLY GRIFFITH, IF SO CHOSEN, WOULD BE THE LEAD SEARCH CONSULTANT FOR THE HARFORD COUNTY SEARCH. AND AND DOCTOR GRIFFITH BRINGS OVER 30 YEARS OF PUBLIC EDUCATION EXPERIENCE IN MARYLAND, INCLUDING NINE YEARS AS SUPERINTENDENT IN TALBOT COUNTY. AND THE OTHER TWO MEMBERS OF THE TEAM ALSO BRING A WHOLE CAREER OF OF OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICE IN MARYLAND. ONE FORMER SUPERINTENDENT IN CAROLINE COUNTY AND AND AN ENTIRE CAREER IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY PRIOR TO THAT AS AND THEN A THIRD PERSON THAT ALSO WAS HEAD OF HR IN TALBOT COUNTY FOR FOR SEVERAL YEARS. SO THAT WOULD BE THE TEAM BEFORE YOU IF YOU SO CHOSE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH MAB AS TO CONDUCT YOUR SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH PLANNING. THE SEARCH IS VERY IMPORTANT, AND WE'VE OUTLINED SOME OF THE THE KEY ITEMS THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO ADDRESS AS PART OF THAT, THAT SEARCH PROCESS IN PLANNING IT. AND I'LL LET DOCTOR GRIFFITH SPEAK TO THAT AS WELL AS A COUPLE OTHER SLIDES. GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. HAPPY TO BE HERE AND HAPPY TO HELP IF YOU CHOOSE, JUST TO VERY QUICKLY GO OVER THE SEARCH, ESTABLISHING A TIMELINE FOR YOUR BOARD TO MEET AND BE ABLE TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF HOMEWORK IN BETWEEN OUR MEETINGS. ESTABLISHING CONFIDENTIALITY PROTOCOLS. AND WHO WILL BE YOUR SPOKESPERSON FOR THE BOARD FOR THE MAB SEARCH COMMITTEE TO TALK TO? DEVELOPING A PLAN TO GET STAKEHOLDER INPUT. IT'S IMPORTANT TO REALLY THINK ABOUT HOW YOU WANT TO GET STAKEHOLDER INPUT AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE, AND ESTABLISHING A CANDIDATE CRITERIA. WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR NEXT LEADER TO HAVE AS FAR AS CHARACTERISTICS AND GETTING SOME INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY ON THAT AS WELL? ALSO REALLY THINKING ABOUT HOW YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE. DO YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE JUST IN MARYLAND? YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE NATIONALLY? HOW DO YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE FOR THE NEXT SUPERINTENDENT? DESCRIBING YOUR YOUR DEMOGRAPHICS AND DESCRIBING YOUR COMMUNITY? I MEAN, IT REALLY IS YOUR IT'S YOUR HOME. IT'S YOUR PROCESS. IT'S WHERE EVERYONE LIVES AND AND IT'S GOING. AND REALLY THE SCHOOLS ARE THE HUB OF, OF THE, OF THE COUNTY. SO AND THEN TAKING A LOOK AT YOUR SELECTION CRITERIA AND A TIMELINE AND WHAT WILL YOU DO IS WE WOULD HAVE TO BACKWARD MAP FROM JUNE BACK TO MARCH. AND AS YOU SEE MARCH TO JUNE IS PRETTY SHORT TIMELINE.

SO WE WOULD HAVE TO DO SOME CRUNCHING, BUT WE COULD GET IT DONE. DEFINITELY COULD GET IT DONE. SO THE NEXT SLIDE WOULD BE PHASE THREE. AND YOU WOULD THEN IDENTIFY WHAT KIND OF QUESTIONS, WHAT QUESTIONS YOU WOULD ASK. YOU WOULD ACTUALLY TAKE A LOOK AT ALL OF THE APPLICATIONS THAT COME IN. EACH BOARD MEMBER WOULD SCORE EACH APPLICATION INDIVIDUALLY. IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR EACH OF YOU TO READ EVERY APPLICANT AND SCORE THEM. THEN WE WOULD COME TOGETHER, COME TO CONSENSUS ON WHO YOU WOULD LIKE TO INTERVIEW, THEN TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT ARE THOSE QUESTIONS GOING TO LOOK LIKE? I ALWAYS ENCOURAGE BOARD MEMBERS TO REALLY THINK OF THE JOB OF THE SUPERINTENDENT AS BEING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THIS BUSINESS, AND THIS BUSINESS IS VERY INCLUSIVE. A LOT OF THINGS, WHETHER IT'S BUDGET, CAPITAL, PROJECTS, ACADEMICS, COMMUNICATION, COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, COMMUNITY SUPPORT. SO THERE'D BE A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS. THE BLUEPRINT, OF COURSE, ANY KIND OF LEGISLATION, THEN IT WOULD BE WHO YOU WANT TO INTERVIEW AND WHAT WOULD THOSE INTERVIEWS TAKE A LOOK. WHAT WOULD THEY LOOK LIKE? THE FIRST ROUND OF INTERVIEWS WOULD BE STRUCTURED. YOU WOULD DECIDE WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK. THEY WOULD. YOU WOULD THEN CALL IN THE CANDIDATES. YOU COULD EITHER DO IT VIRTUALLY OR YOU COULD DO IT IN PERSON, OR YOU COULD DO A HYBRID MODEL.

WHATEVER WORKS BEST FOR THE CANDIDATES, INTERVIEWING THOSE CANDIDATES AND THEN DECIDING WHETHER YOU WANT TO GO TO A SECOND ROUND OF INTERVIEWS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE FOCUS GROUPS OR NOT, HAVE FOCUS GROUPS IN YOUR COMMUNITY, BE A PART OF SOME OF THOSE INTERVIEWS. AND THEN OBVIOUSLY DECIDING ON WHO YOUR NEXT SUPERINTENDENT WOULD BE, AND MAKING SURE WE CONTACT THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT FOR APPROVAL OF THE CANDIDATE WE DO HAVE. LIKE I SAID, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT APRIL, MAY, JUNE. SO THREE MONTHS TO PACK THAT IN THERE. BUT I AM READY AND EAGER. I AM RETIRED, BUT I AM ALSO WORKING PART TIME AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR ESMC, WHICH IS THE EASTERN SHORE EDUCATION CONSORTIUM. SO RIGHT NOW I WORK PART TIME. I JUST WORK WITH THE NINE EASTERN SHORE SUPERINTENDENTS AND BOARD MEMBERS, AND WE DO A LOT OF ALSO A LOT OF ASPIRING LEADERS WORK AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. I WAS ALSO A PART OF THE MARYLAND ASPIRING SUPERINTENDENT ACADEMY. THE FORMATION OF THAT ACADEMY THROUGH ASM. I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT THAT ACTUALLY CAME TO FRUITION. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO KICK IT OFF IN 2020 AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED IN 2020, SO WE PUT IT OFF FOR A COUPLE YEARS. BUT I HAVE STAYED INVOLVED AND I'VE DONE MOCK INTERVIEWS, AND WE HAVE A LOT OF REALLY GOOD CANDIDATES OUT THERE IN MARYLAND THAT ARE REALLY EAGER TO BE IN THE SUPERINTENDENCY JOB FOR, I WOULD SAY, FOR A LOT OF THE RIGHT REASONS. SO WE'RE HERE TO HELP IN ANY WAY THAT YOU FEEL WE COULD HELP. AND AGAIN, THEN

YOU WOULD NEED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THAT FINALIST AND AND MOVE FORWARD FROM THERE. HOW MUCH.

I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR LEADERSHIP ON HOW WE DO THAT. HOW DO WE ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY? HOW DO WE FROM STAFF, ADMINISTRATORS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS? SO LOOK FORWARD TO YOU WALKING US THROUGH THAT. AND THEN WE ARE ON A COMPRESSED TIMELINE. SO THIS IS NO SMALL FEAT TO HAVE SOMEBODY IN PLACE AT THE BEGINNING OF JUNE. SO URGE BOARD MEMBERS TO LOOK AT THEIR CALENDARS AND BE DEDICATED TO THIS PROCESS AS WE HIRE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON, YOU KNOW, LEADING LEADING THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. SO WITH THAT SAID, THIS DOES COST. AND SO IT WE'RE LOOKING AT A NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $38,000, 35,003 THOUSAND FOR TRAVEL. SO THAT THE BOARD KNOWS THAT. WE ARE ALREADY SEEING OVERCROWDED BUSSES, WHICH LEADS TO BEHAVIORAL ISSUES. WE ARE FACING AN ONGOING STRUGGLE WITH THE CURRENT FUNDING. WE HAVE TO BRING IN COMPETENT AND QUALIFIED CANDIDATE DRIVERS. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP SEEING THESE REDUCTIONS WITHOUT US HINDERING THE HIRING PROCESS OF THE BEST INDIVIDUALS POSSIBLE TO HAUL THE COUNTY'S MOST PRECIOUS CARGO, WHICH IS OUR STUDENTS. ANOTHER IMPACT OF THE BUDGET RESTRAINTS AND CUTS POSSIBLY ARE ATTENDANCE. WE ALREADY SEE SCHOOLS STRUGGLING TO MAINTAIN ATTENDANCE ON A REGULAR BASIS. WE HAVE PILOT PROGRAMS IN PLACE CURRENTLY FOR SOME SCHOOLS THAT ARE HAULING STUDENTS THAT LIVE IN NON SERVICE AREAS, WHICH IS TECHNICALLY OR WALKERS, TO GET THEM BACK IN THE BUILDING SO THAT THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL.

FUNDING CUTS COULD POTENTIALLY ELIMINATE THESE PROGRAMS. AS A COUNTY. IT CURRENTLY STANDS AT ALMOST 4000 STUDENTS LIVE IN NON SERVICE AREAS. WHICH ARE YOUR WALKERS? FUNDING CUTS COULD HAVE A DIRECT IMPACT ON THESE NON SERVICE AREAS INCREASING IN SIZE, WHICH IN RELATION WOULD LIMIT YOU KNOW MORE ATTENDANCE ISSUES WITH STUDENTS NOT CHOOSING NOT TO COME TO SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT BEING PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION. OTHER PROGRAMS, OUR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, OUR FIELD TRIPS, OUR EDUCATIONAL TRIMS, OUR MCKINNEY-VENTO PROGRAM, WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, A PROGRAM THAT HELPS DISPLACED STUDENTS GET BACK INTO THEIR HOME SCHOOL. THERE'S JUST SO MUCH STUFF THAT'S DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY CUTTING BACK FUNDING, ESPECIALLY IN THE TRANSPORTATION STANDPOINT. YOU KNOW, WE TAKE A LOT OF PRIDE AS AN ASSOCIATION AND THE SERVICES THAT WE PROVIDE THIS COUNTY. I COULD SAY THAT GIVEN THE BARE MINIMUM, WE WOULD STILL SUCCEED. YES, GRADUATION RATES MATTER, BUT SO DOES DEMONSTRATED PROFICIENCY. AND IF NEARLY HALF THE STUDENTS ARE NOT MEETING ACADEMIC BENCHMARKS MARKS, THEN ADDITIONAL FUNDING MUST BE DIRECTLY TIED TO MEASURABLE ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT. NOW, THE BOARD HAS REQUESTED FOR FISCAL YEAR 2,715% INCREASE APPROXIMATELY 54 MILLION, INCLUDING 28 MILLION FOR SALARY INCREASES AND 91 ADDITIONAL POSITIONS FOR PRE-K AND SECOND GRADE AND NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS. MARCH IS WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH, AND AS MISS NARCOTICS MENTIONED, I ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF GOING TO THE HARFORD COUNTY LEADING WOMEN'S AWARD. AND IT WAS A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT FOR ME BECAUSE DOCTOR JACQUELINE HAAS WAS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE LEADERS OF THE PAST, AND SHE WAS THE SUPERINTENDENT. THAT BROUGHT ME INTO ADMINISTRATION.

THERE'S ALSO BEEN THE SUGGESTION THAT WE CAN CONVERT EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS TO FULL INSTRUCTION DAYS. SO, AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE MET THE HOURS OF INSTRUCTION, BUT WE'RE ASKING A WAIVER OF THREE DAYS FOR THE IDEA OF ADDING TIME FOR EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS. WE ARE INCREASING INSTRUCTIONAL TIME, AND WE ARE SHOWING THAT WE WANT STUDENTS TO GET THAT EXTRA LEARNING. SOMEONE MENTIONED THAT THIS IS YOU KNOW, IT'S A SHORT PRESENTATION THAT STARTS MONTHS OF WORK. SO IT STARTED BACK IN JULY. WE MET WITH MSD TO DESIGN THE PROCESS AND GET SOME FEEDBACK. IN AUGUST, WE GOT THE MATERIALS READY AND CONTACTED VENDORS. IN SEPTEMBER. WE PLAN FOR THOSE REVIEW SESSIONS BY THE COMMITTEE. IN OCTOBER. WE EXECUTED THOSE REVIEW COMMITTEES, MADE A DECISION TO MOVE TO GENERAL COUNSEL GENERAL CURRICULUM COMMITTEE, WHICH HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER. THEY APPROVED. WE STARTED PLANNING FOR TRAINING AND COURSE SEQUENCE ADJUSTMENTS, AND HERE WE ARE TONIGHT SEEKING BOARD APPROVAL SO THAT WE CAN GET SOME PROFESSIONAL LEARNING UNDERWAY AND GET MATERIALS READY FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN THE FALL OF 2026, WHERE WE WILL CONTINUE OUR ONGOING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING. WE ALSO NEEDED TO DEVELOP THE LENS BY WHICH WE WOULD EVALUATE WHAT HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS WILL LOOK LIKE IN HARFORD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. AND WITH THAT, WE WANTED TO SELECT COMMITTEE MEMBERS. WE DID THAT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EDUCATION SERVICES, CIA LEADERSHIP AND PRINCIPALS. WE ALSO WANTED TO IDENTIFY PRIORITY RUBRIC CRITERIA. MSD HAS A RUBRIC. IT IS PRETTY LENGTHY, SO WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD SOMETHING THAT WAS USABLE AND CONCISE AND REFLECTED HC PRIORITIES, AND THEN PLAN FOR THAT REVIEW PROCESS. WE WANTED TO WINNOW THE CHOICES. THERE ARE A LOT OF CURRICULA OUT THERE. WE REVIEWED A SMALL SET OF CURRICULA. THESE ARE THE THREE CURRICULA THAT ARE PRIMARILY BEING USED IN MARYLAND RIGHT NOW, AND MSD IS DOING SOME WORK TO HELP US ADOPT THE CURRENT CURRICULA TO THE REVISED STANDARDS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN 26, 27. AND SO THOSE INCLUDE ENVISION MATHEMATICS, ILLUSTRATIVE MATHEMATICS AND REVEAL MATHEMATICS. SO THOSE CURRICULA HAVE ALL BEEN REVIEWED BY ED REPORTS, WHICH IS A NATIONAL INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION. THAT'S THE BASELINE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS. THEY ALL RATED HIGHLY ON ED REPORTS. YOU CAN SEE THE PERCENTAGES THERE. ILLUSTRATIVE MATH IS ONE OF THE THREE THAT IS AN OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE, WHICH MEANS THAT A LOT OF THE MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE. THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT ARE BEHIND A USERNAME AND PASSWORD, SUCH AS ANSWER KEYS AND ASSESSMENTS. AND ED REPORTS. ALSO SUGGESTS FOUR DIFFERENT WAYS THAT DISTRICTS CAN INSPECT HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS TO SEE IF IT WILL MEET THAT DISTRICT'S NEEDS. AND SO IN THE REVIEW COMMITTEE, EACH PERSON INDIVIDUALLY REVIEWED THE MATERIAL, THEY RECORDED THEIR RATINGS AND EVIDENCE. WE CAME TO A CONSENSUS ABOUT THAT RATING AND EVIDENCE. AND THEN WE DID A HOLISTIC EXAMINATION OF THE STRENGTHS, THE GAPS AND POTENTIAL GAPS SOLUTIONS. AND THEN EACH MEMBER RANKED THEIR THE HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL FROM THE MOST TO LEAST VIABLE. WE THEN BROUGHT IN EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO ANALYZE THOSE RANKINGS THE STRENGTHS, THE GAPS, THE COSTS, AND MAKE A FINAL DECISION. HERE'S THE DATA.

OUR PROCESS WAS VERY SIMILAR, SO I'M GOING TO GO RELATIVELY QUICKLY THROUGH THESE HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ARE ALIGNED TO THE STATE LEVEL STANDARDS DESIGNED TO AFFIRM. STUDENTS HAVE THAT INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN OF ROUTINES TO HELP STUDENTS LEARN THE MATH, AND HAVE SUPPORTS FOR EDUCATORS TO IMPLEMENT. SO WE LEANED ON OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOLKS FOR THIS REVIEW, AND THEN WE GOT TO WINNOW THE THE PROCESS, AND WE LOOKED FOR AGAIN, THERE'S A LOT OF MATERIALS OUT THERE. WE WERE LOOKING FOR TEXTBOOKS THAT WERE APPROVED BY COLLEGE BOARD THAT HAD ADVANCED PLACEMENT IN THE TITLE, AND THAT WERE PUBLISHED AFTER 2023 TO ENSURE ALIGNMENT WITH THE RECENTLY ADOPTED STANDARDS BY COLLEGE BOARD. AND WHEN WE DID THAT, THERE WERE TWO PRODUCTS THAT CAME UP, WHICH WERE PEARSON AND MATHEMATIC. THERE WAS A THIRD PRODUCT, CENGAGE, BUT IT WAS IN MANUSCRIPT FORM. THE COMMITTEE LOOKED AT THE MANUSCRIPT AND DECIDED NOT TO DO A FULL REVIEW, BECAUSE THERE WERE SOME ISSUES WITH IT BEING POTENTIALLY READY FOR THE 2627 SCHOOL YEAR, AND THE COMMITTEE DECIDED TO FOCUS ON THESE TWO. SO WE DID A MATERIAL STUDY USING THAT RUBRIC AGAIN, USED ONE UNIT TO DO A DEEP DIVE, GET A LOT OF ROBUST EVIDENCE, AND USE THAT SAME RUBRIC THAT TALKS ABOUT THE CONTENT THE EDUCATOR SUPPORTS AND THEN THE STUDENT SUPPORTS, AGAIN, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND OFFICE OF MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS. AND THEN MADE A DECISION. SO EACH PERSON RATED IT CAME TO CONSENSUS ON THAT, LOOKED AT STRENGTHS, GAPS, GAPS, SOLUTIONS, AND RANKED THOSE TWO FROM MOST VALUABLE TO LEAST VIABLE. WE PASS THAT ON TO EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATION AND MAKE FINAL DECISION. AND HERE IS THE DATA. FROM A COST STANDPOINT, PEARSON IS $444,000 FOR A FIVE YEAR CONTRACT, AND I HAD TO WRITE IT DOWN $114,000 FOR MATHEMATIC FOR ASSESSMENTS, HOMEWORK AND SOME VIDEO ACCESS FOR OUR STUDENTS. SO WITH THOSE, THE DECISION WAS FOR MATHEMATIC AP PRECALCULUS TO BE RECOMMENDED. WE ALSO HAVE A ROBUST PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PLAN FOR IMPLEMENTATION, AGAIN FOR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS ALIKE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK. AND WITH THAT, WE ARE REQUESTING APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF ED FOR THE ADOPTION, PURCHASE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MATHEMATICS. AP PRE-CALCULUS FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AP PRE-CALCULUS BEGINNING IN THE 2026 2027 SCHOOL YEAR. I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION. SORRY. GO AHEAD. I SEE THAT IT IT INCLUDES HOMEWORK. SO WE ARE A LITTLE BIT AWAYS FROM THAT. AT THIS POINT. WE'LL BE GETTING READY TO DO OUR THIRD QUARTER AT THE END OF THIS MONTH. AND I'LL BE BACK IN MAY TO SHARE THOSE RESULTS.

THIS DOES INCLUDE PROJECTIONS AS OF DECEMBER 31ST. AND WE DID INCLUDE SOME THINGS THAT WE KNEW AT THAT TIME. SO I WILL GO THROUGH THIS AND HAPPY TO TAKE ANY QUESTIONS. SO OUR REVENUES AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE ARE ON TRACK TO MEET OUR BUDGET. WE DO EXPECT TO HAVE ADDITIONAL OTHER REVENUE. THE 2.4 MILLION, 3 MILLION OF THAT, WE'RE GOING TO BE SHORT SOME OTHER ITEMS, BUT 3 MILLION OF THAT IS RELATED TO THE HEALTH CARE SETTLEMENT THAT WE HAD. AND THE COUNTY SENT OVER THE $3 MILLION EXCESS THAT WAS IN OUR RATE STABILIZATION FUND. SO WE WILL HAVE THAT AS REVENUE. AND THEN, OF COURSE, OUR INTEREST REVENUE IS STILL HIGHER THAN BUDGET GIVEN THE CURRENT RATES. AND WE'RE ESTIMATING AN ADDITIONAL $800,000 IN THAT. FOR EXPENDITURES. WE ARE EXTREMELY TIGHT AGAIN. AGAIN, THE PERCENTAGE WE'RE AT 100% OF OUR BUDGET, LEAVING US LESS THAN $1 MILLION WITH WHAT WE HAVE PROJECTED THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR. AGAIN, DECEMBER IS STILL VERY EARLY IN THE YEAR. WE DID INCLUDE SNOW REMOVAL FROM THE STORMS THAT WE HAD. SO THAT IS IN HERE. BUT YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES THAT WE'RE PROJECTING NOW. THE LARGEST ONE BY FAR IS SPECIAL EDUCATION OF $5 MILLION. THAT REALLY IS RELATED TO OUR NONPUBLIC PLACEMENT. WE DO HAVE OVER $1 MILLION VARIANCE IN STUDENT TRANSPORTATION. THAT'S REALLY RELATED TO SAVINGS IN FUEL COSTS. HOWEVER, WITH THE PRICE OF FUEL GOING UP AGAIN, WE'LL SEE HOW MUCH WE EAT INTO THAT BY JUNE 30TH. SO OPERATION OF PLAN, THE 485 THAT INCLUDES $300,000 IN SNOW REMOVAL COSTS AND FIXED CHARGES. THE 4 MILLION IS REALLY HEALTH CARE INSURANCE AND RETIREMENT INCOME. SOME OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH AMOUNTS THAT WERE TRANSFERRED OVER, CHARGES THAT WERE TRANSFERRED OVER TO GRANTS, AND ALSO CHANGES IN PLANS AND SO FORTH WITH STAFF. SO STAFF WHO COME IN AND REPLACE STAFF WHO WERE MORE HIGHLY PAID OR MAYBE WHO DON'T TAKE BENEFITS. WE DO HAVE THOSE SURPLUSES IN THERE.

WITH THE BUDGET THAT WE PREPARED. WE DID PULL SOME MONEY OUT OF THERE KNOWING BASED ON THE RATE INCREASES AND WHAT WE PROJECTED. WE WILL LOOK AT THIS AGAIN, SEE WHERE WE ARE AT THE END OF THE YEAR, AND SEE IF THERE'S ADDITIONAL CAPACITY HERE TO REMOVE AS WELL. SO AGAIN, AS OF DECEMBER 31ST, OUR PROJECTED UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE WAS 26 MILLION. THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ASSIGNMENT THE BOARD APPROVED FOR FY 27.
