THEIR TEACHER QUESTIONED THEM IN FRONT OF THEIR CLASSMATES, TURNING WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ORDINARY SCHOOL DAY INTO PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT. THE FATHER REACHED OUT TO THE SCHOOL, AND AT FIRST THE ADMINISTRATION ADMITTED THAT HIS CHILDREN WERE MADE UNCOMFORTABLE. BUT JUST DAYS LATER, THE DISTRICT COMPLETELY CHANGED COURSE, CLAIMING THAT THE TEACHER WAS ACTUALLY SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS BY QUESTIONING THEM. ULTIMATELY, A CPS IS DISMISSING THE FEELINGS AND EXPERIENCES OF THESE ELEMENTARY AGED CHILDREN AND FAILING TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR ROLE IN THIS SITUATION, WHICH IS SHAMEFUL. THAT ENTIRE CHAIN OF EVENTS FLOWS DIRECTLY FROM A POLICY THAT HASN'T BEEN UPDATED IN MORE THAN 20 YEARS. THESE ARE MILLIONS OF FAMILIES MAKING THE DIFFICULT CHOICE TO LEAVE THE SYSTEM. THE RISE IS NOT TEMPORARY. IT'S A CLEAR SIGNAL THAT THE SYSTEM IS FAILING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF PARENTS AND STUDENTS ALIKE. OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE FAILING US. NOW, LET'S BE CRYSTAL CLEAR ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN HARFORD COUNTY SCHOOLS. WHEN A BIOLOGICAL FEMALE IS ALLOWED INTO A BOYS LOCKER ROOM, THE BOYS FEEL VIOLATED AND EXPOSED. THEY FEEL THAT THE PRIVACY WE PROMISED THEM HAS BEEN AUCTIONED OFF IN THE NAME OF INCLUSION AND POLICY CHANGE. WITHOUT MEANINGFUL CONSULTATION, THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE. BY ALLOWING MIXED GENDER LOCKER ROOMS, WE'RE CREATING A SITUATION WHERE SOME CHILDREN ARE AFFECTED, EFFECTIVELY EXCLUDED. THEY AVOID GYM BECAUSE THEY FEEL UNSAFE OR EMBARRASSED. WE HAVE TWO GRANDCHILDREN AND THE DISTRICT AND WENT TO THE DALMATIAN DASH AT RED PUMP ELEMENTARY AND GOING THERE. WE FOUND THE STAFF VERY WELCOMING AND EXPLAINING TO US WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND THEY HELPED THE KIDS AND GAVE ATTENTION TO KIDS WHO WEREN'T COMFORTABLE OR AS COMFORTABLE AS THE OTHERS WITH WITH THE WHOLE EVENT. IT WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF PROFESSIONALISM. TEACHERS AND STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION DOING THEIR JOBS. BY THE END OF THE SUMMER, THE EIGHTH GRADER CONQUERED ALL ASPECTS OF MIXED NUMBERS AND IMPROPER FRACTIONS, LEARNED SIMPLE COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCES, SQUARE ROOTS, GEOMETRIC FIGURES, SOME ALGEBRA PROBLEMS, AND TOUCHED ON SIMPLE AND COMPOUND INTEREST. THE FOURTH GRADER BECAME WELL GROUNDED IN MULTIPLICATION TABLES TO 12 LEARNED FRACTIONS CONQUERED, MULTIPLYING THREE NUMBERS BY TWO AND LONG DIVISION, IN ADDITION TO COMPLETING A 36 UNIT SPELLING BOOK AND ABLE TO SPELL WORDS SUCH AS ALLEGIANCE. CLIMATE PROJECTIONS GOING BACK TO THE 60S HAVE INCLUDED THE WORLD RUNNING OUT OF CARBON FUELS AND IMPENDING ICE AGE, THE DESTRUCTION OF VEGETATION BY ACID RAIN AND GLOBAL FLOODING DUE TO RUNAWAY WARMING EFFECTS. BELLAIRE HIGH, ABERDEEN MIDDLE, AND ABERDEEN HIGH. I HAD AN AMAZING TIME DURING ALL THESE VISITS. THEY LAST ABOUT AN HOUR AND A STUDENT NORMALLY LEADS ME AROUND, SO IT'S DEFINITELY GREAT TO BE ABLE TO SEE ALL THE SCHOOLS IN THEIR NATURAL DAILY RHYTHM. NO STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT ON SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOPS OR IN SCHOOLS, PERIOD. AND THAT INCLUDES BOOKS. AS A SCHOOL SYSTEM, IT IS OUR JOB TO PROVIDE CHALLENGING AND AGE APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTION TO EACH AND EVERY STUDENT, WHILE PROTECTING THEIR INNOCENCE AND RESPECTING THEIR PARENTS AND THEIR RIGHTS TO SHARE SENSITIVE INFORMATION WITH THEIR CHILDREN WHEN THEY FEEL APPROPRIATE. I THINK THEY'RE GOING TO COME BEGGING TO US LOOKING FOR A SETTLEMENT. IT'S GOT A VERY STRONG CASE THERE. BUT LET ME BE CLEAR ABOUT HOW ISSUES NEED TO BE HANDLED. THIS POLICY WAS IN RESPONSE TO HOUSE BILL 86 PUBLIC AND NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS, BRONCHODILATORS, USE, AVAILABILITY, TRAINING AND POLICIES THAT WAS PASSED IN 2024 TO TO BE IMPLEMENTED THIS SCHOOL YEAR. 2526 SCHOOL YEAR.THE POLICY AUTHORIZES THE SCHOOL NURSE OR DESIGNATED SCHOOL PERSONNEL WHO HAVE UNDERGONE SPECIFIC TRAINING TO ADMINISTER BRONCHODILATOR TO A STUDENT WHO IS DETERMINED TO BE, OR PERCEIVED TO BE EXPERIENCING ASTHMA RELATED SYMPTOMS, OR IS PERCEIVED TO BE IN RESPIRATORY DISTRESS. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PRE-KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS, THE POLICY SHALL AUTHORIZE ADMINISTRATION OF A BRONCHODILATOR REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE STUDENT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ASTHMA OR REACTIVE AIRWAY DISEASE, OR HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED BRONCHODILATOR NURSE PRACTICE GUIDELINES. CREATED AND SIGNED BY MISS MARY NASUTA, THE SUPERVISOR OF HEALTH SERVICES, ALONG WITH THE MEDICAL DEPUTY HEALTH OFFICER, DOCTOR JAMIE SABEL, WITH THE HEALTH HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THEY USED THE GUIDANCE FROM THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ALGORITHM AND AFTERCARE INCLUDES NOTIFYING PARENT OR GUARDIAN. TRAINING FROM MSD WAS COMPLETED FOR ALL SCHOOL NURSES ON AUGUST 22ND, 2025. TRAINING FROM MSD WAS COMPLETED FOR ALL SUBSTITUTE NURSES ON OCTOBER 17TH, 2025. ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS ARE CURRENTLY STOCKED WITH ONE METERED DOSE INHALER OF ALBUTEROL SULFATE AND A DISPOSABLE MOUTHPIECE. WITH THE EXPIRATION OF JANUARY OF 2027, DATA COLLECTION IS ONGOING REGARDING THE USE OF INHALERS AND TRACKING THROUGH A NEW SCHOOL TREATMENT CODE. INHALERS HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED SUCCESSFULLY SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY THIS YEAR, AND I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A NOTE. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE PRE-K STUDENTS, FOR PRE-K STUDENTS, A BRONCHODILATOR SHOULD ONLY BE ADMINISTERED IF THEY HAVE A PHYSICIAN'S DIAGNOSIS OF ASTHMA OR REACTIVE AIRWAY DISEASE.
THIS RESTRICTION IS PRIMARILY A SAFETY MEASURE BASED ON MEDICAL AND LEGAL STANDARDS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN, WHO ARE MORE EXPOSED TO HEALTH RISKS AND LESS ABLE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK. YEP, NO.

NO, IT'S REGARDLESS NOW IT'S REGARDLESS BEFORE BEFORE THEY COULD ONLY ADMINISTER IT IF THE STUDENT HAD A PRESCRIPTION FROM A DOCTOR. OKAY. AND THIS IS OPEN FOR 30 DAYS OF PUBLIC COMMENT. YES. AND EVERY ASSESSMENT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A SIMILAR CHART THAT'S GOING TO SHOW FOR YEAR.
AND THIS IS THESE ARE PROFICIENCY LEVELS. SO THE PERCENT OF STUDENTS WHO ARE 750 OR HIGHER AND MET THAT PROFICIENCY LEVEL, WHICH IS WHAT WHAT OUR GOAL IS OVERALL FOR OUR STUDENTS, OF COURSE WE WANT 100%. WE'RE PUSHING TOWARDS IT. SO AS YOU LOOK ON HERE, YOU CAN SEE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE WE HAVE A FOUR YEAR CHANGE. AND AND WE PUT THAT IN THERE BECAUSE IT'S IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE FROM 2122 THAT OF COURSE THAT WAS WHEN WE WERE COMING OUT OF COVID. AND ALSO FOR SOME OF THE ASSESSMENTS THERE ARE NEWER ASSESSMENTS. SO THIS IS A SPAN THAT THEY'VE BEEN AVAILABLE. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE, YOU CAN SEE THAT OUR FIFTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE SHOWED THE BIGGEST GROWTH OVER THAT FOUR YEAR PERIOD, PRETTY SIGNIFICANTLY AT SEVENTH GRADE AND FIFTH GRADE AND SIXTH GRADE. SO IT'S SHOWING THAT OUR LITERACY AND OUR, OUR, OUR STRATEGIES THAT WE'RE USING WITH STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM ARE IMPROVING. HERE ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS THAT ARE SHARED IN THE DOCUMENT THAT MISS RIDGEWAY TALKED ABOUT. THE FOUNDATIONAL FOCUS PAYS OFF. SO AS YOU SEE THOSE SCORES RISING, THAT MEANS WE'RE FOCUSING ON EARLY LITERACY AND THE SCIENCE OF READING AT THE EARLIER GRADES, USING EARLY SCREENING AND MTSS SUPPORTS TO ENSURE TARGETED INTERVENTIONS, IMPROVING INSTRUCTION. WE HAVE ASSESSMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR USING IREADY. AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL. WE HAVE THE SAME THING WITH IREADY USING THAT TEST TO SHOW GROWTH AND IDENTIFY AREAS OF NEEDS FOR STUDENTS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL. WE ALSO HAVE DOUBLE PERIODS FOR ELA PROJECT BASED LEARNING, WHICH IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE USED AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL AND IS IN BOOSTING ENGAGEMENT WITH STUDENTS. THE INTEREST LEVEL OF THE CONTENT THAT THEY'RE LEARNING, AND IT'S SPREADING LITERACY THROUGH ALL CONTENTS.
AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, WE HAVE THE SHOWN THE HIGHEST PROFICIENCY RATE SINCE READING SINCE THE NEW STANDARDS STARTED, WHICH IS EMPOWERING, WHICH IS THROUGH EMPOWERING OUR LEADERS AND USING DATA AT THAT LEVEL TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS ARE LEARNING THE CONTENT. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, YOU SEE THE OVERALL PROFICIENCY ROSE TO 62 60.2%, A 3.5 GAIN OVER 2324. SO THAT'S FOR THE WHOLE DISTRICT. THAT MEANS WE'VE ADVANCED FROM SEVENTH TO SIXTH PLACE IN THE STATE FOR PROFICIENCY AVERAGES FOR THE WHOLE SCHOOL DISTRICT. GRADE TEN POSTED ITS LARGEST INCREASE, AND ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL ELA RESULTS REACHED THEIR HIGHEST LEVEL

SINCE MARYLAND ADOPTED THE NEW RIGOROUS ASSESSMENTS. AT THE BOTTOM THERE, YOU CAN SEE HTTPS HAS, FOR GRADES THREE THROUGH EIGHT OUTPERFORMED OUTPERFORM SIMILAR COUNTIES ANNE ARUNDEL, BALTIMORE, AND CECIL AND MONTGOMERY. IN MATH, YOU SEE THE SAME CHART, NOT THE SAME LEVEL OF GROWTH OVER THE FOUR YEAR PERIOD. BUT THERE ARE SOME REASONS FOR THAT. THE STATE HAS ADMITTED THAT THERE'S SOME MISALIGNMENT WITH THE ASSESSMENTS, AND THE STATE TRENDS ARE SORT OF SHOWING THAT ALSO. SO THERE IS GOING TO BE THEY'RE REASSESSING THE ASSESSMENT, I GUESS YOU COULD SAY, AND HOPEFULLY THAT'LL BE ADDRESSED IN THE FUTURE. ALSO, AS YOU LOOK AT SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE, WHEN WE SEE THE NUMBERS GETTING SMALLER, THAT ALSO RELATES TO STUDENTS TAKING ALGEBRA ONE IN GRADE SEVEN AND EIGHT. SO THOSE STUDENTS AREN'T REFLECTED IN THAT DATA. THEY ARE REFLECTED IN ALGEBRA ONE DATA WHICH GOES FROM MIDDLE TO HIGH SCHOOL. WE ALSO HAVE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS REPEATING TAKING THE ALGEBRA ONE ASSESSMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL IN ORDER TO MEET THE MCAT OR THE CCRS METRIC. ONE OF THE CCR STANDARDS IS ALGEBRA ONE. SOME HIGHLIGHTS HERE. AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL, WE HAVE NEW ENVISION ALIGNED PD AND MSDE MATH POLICIES THAT ARE SHOWING EARLY SIGNS. AND WE BELIEVE THROUGH THE CONTINUUM MOMENTUM WITH THESE ENHANCED ASSESSMENTS AND DIFFERENTIATION INTO INSTRUCTION, THAT WE'RE GOING TO SEE CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT IN OUR STUDENTS PROFICIENCY AND SKILLS. AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL, WE HAVE THE IREADY DIAGNOSTIC, AND THEY'RE USED IN INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION, PD AND INTERVENTIONS WITH STUDENTS. AND WE ALSO HAVE SUPPORT SYSTEMS IN PLACE WHERE THEY'RE LOOKING AT HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND REVIEWING THAT AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY HAVE DIFFERENTIATED PD TO DRIVE FUTURE IMPROVEMENT.IN ALGEBRA ONE, THE FOCUS HAS BEEN ON GROWING THOSE FIRST TIME TEST TAKERS, MAKING SURE THAT THEY ARE PERFORMING AT A HIGH LEVEL THE FIRST TIME THEY TAKE THE TEST, SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO REPEAT THE TEST, WHICH INEVITABLY INCREASE OUR PROFICIENCY NUMBERS THROUGH THE ENVISION ALGEBRA ONE. TARGETED PD AND COGNITIVE DEMAND WORK. SO HOPEFULLY ALL OF THOSE FOCUSES AND THERE'S THIS EFFORT OF ALIGNMENT THROUGH ALL GRADE LEVELS IN THE MATH TO ENSURE THAT THEY'RE BUILDING AS THEY GO THROUGH ALL LEVELS. AND THERE'S A LOT OF NEW STANDARDS AT THE STATE THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT, AND ESPECIALLY IF WE HAVE A NEW ASSESSMENT IN THE FUTURE TO MAKE SURE WE'RE TESTING STUDENTS FOR WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW. DESPITE THE STATEWIDE CONCERNS WE HAVE ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT ALIGNMENT, HC DID IMPROVE TO A 43% PROFICIENCY RATE, WHICH IS ITS BEST SINCE 2122, AND WE HAD A 2.4. GAIN IN ALGEBRA ONE. THE DISTRICT OUT OUTPERFORMED THE STATE BY 7.1 PERCENTAGE POINTS AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL. IN GRADES THREE THROUGH FIVE, WE OUTPERFORMED SIMILAR COUNTIES LISTED THERE, AND ALSO AT GRADES SIX THROUGH EIGHT. IN ALGEBRA ONE, WE DID THE SAME WITH BALTIMORE AND CECIL COUNTY. I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT ONE OF THE THINGS YOU'LL SEE IN MATH IN THE FUTURE IS THE STATE IS DOING SIGNIFICANT OVERHAUL OVER THE MATH SEQUENCING, AND SO THE DATA THAT WE'RE PRESENTING NOW, BOTH IN THE THE CHANGES THAT THEY'RE GOING TO DO IN THE ACTUAL TEST, AS WELL AS IN THE SEQUENCING OF MATH STUDIES, WE'RE GOING TO SEE A COMPLETE CHANGE IN KIND OF DISRUPTION TO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MATH. AND SO SOON WHEN WHEN THAT ALL OF THAT OCCURS, WE WON'T NECESSARILY BE ABLE TO DO THE LONGITUDINAL LOOK AT AT OUR PAST PERFORMANCE. BUT THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE STATEWIDE EFFORT OF NEEDING IMPROVED MATH SCORES.
AND SO WE'VE PROVIDED THAT DETAIL IN THE REPORT AND EXPLAIN WHAT'S COMING AHEAD FOR MATHEMATICS. AND WE HAVE A NEW SUPERVISOR OF MATH WHO'S FANTASTIC, WHO IS ALREADY MAKING SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE CONTINUING TO IMPROVE IN THIS AREA. AND THIS NOW LISTS OUR SCIENCE ASSESSMENTS, WHICH HAPPEN IN FIFTH GRADE AND EIGHTH GRADE.
AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE LHS MISA AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL IN GRADES FIVE AND EIGHT. THE THE CONTENT IS RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS THREE GRADES. SO IN FIFTH GRADE IT'S THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE CONTENT. AND FOR EIGHTH GRADE IT'S SIXTH, SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE CONTENT. WHICH MAKES IT A CHALLENGE BECAUSE EVERY YEAR THE TEST IS SORT OF REFLECTS A RANDOM ASSORTMENT OF THE CONTENT THROUGH ALL THOSE GRADE GRADES. SO IT SORT OF IT CAUSES A CHALLENGE FOR THE SCHOOLS TO TO HONE IN ON EXACTLY WHAT'S GOING TO BE ON THAT TEST. BUT THE TRENDS HAVE GONE DOWN A LITTLE BIT, 4 OR 5 AND EIGHT, BUT THAT'S BEEN THE TREND FOR THE STATE LEVEL. AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO STAY ABOVE THE STATE AVERAGE AT ALL LEVELS. AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE THERE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, WE'VE SEEN INCREASED PERFORMANCE A LOT DUE TO OF COURSE, IT'S SPECIFICALLY ONE CONTENT BIOLOGY, BUT IT'S ALSO NOW AN END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. SO THAT MEANS IT'S 20% OF THE STUDENT'S FINAL GRADE IN BIOLOGY. SO THAT SORT OF GIVES SOME VALUE TO THE STUDENT TO PERFORM WELL ON THIS

SO LAST YEAR MOST STUDENTS TOOK US HISTORY BECAUSE THAT'S NOW OUR NINTH GRADE COURSE. SO THIS YEAR WE'LL HAVE A LOT MORE STUDENTS TAKING THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT ASSESSMENT. AND AGAIN, THAT IS AN END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT, JUST LIKE THE LSM ACCOUNTS FOR 25% OF THE STUDENT'S FINAL GRADE. AND IN GRADE EIGHT, EIGHT CPS OUTPERFORM SIMILAR COUNTIES BALTIMORE AND CECIL. EVENING IS SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. A COUPLE THINGS I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT. SO. LAST WEEK I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS LEADERS BREAKFAST. AND THE THERE WAS A LOT DISCUSSED AS ONE CAN IMAGINE. BUT WHAT I WANTED TO MAKE NOTE OF IS THAT BOTH OUR KEYNOTE, I GUESS THEY WERE BOTH KIND OF KEYNOTES. OUR COUNTY EXECUTIVE AND THE HEAD OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEVELOPMENT, MISS HOLT, I THINK BOTH SAID A LOT THAT SPOKE TO THE IMPORTANCE THAT OUR SCHOOLS PROVIDE AND ATTRACTING FAMILIES TO OUR COMMUNITY. AND REALLY WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WAS THE MANY PROGRAMS WE OFFERED, I THINK. I THINK A LOT OF THAT EMERGED FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH THE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION BREAKFAST PUT ON BY THE FOUNDATION A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO, WHERE THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO SEE STUDENTS REPRESENTING ALL OF OUR MAGNET PROGRAMS. AND, YOU KNOW, THE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS. GOT TO SEE THEM JUST PRESENTING, YOU KNOW, WHAT THEY CAN DO AND WHAT HAPPENS IN THOSE PROGRAMS. AND I THINK SO HEARING THAT VALIDATED BY BOTH THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE AND OUR HEAD OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BECAUSE OFFERING A WIDE ARRAY OF, YOU KNOW, HIGH RIGOR, HIGH INTEREST, YOU KNOW, PROGRAMS VERY CONNECTED TO THE NEEDS OF THE WORKFORCE IS ESSENTIAL, I BELIEVE, IN, IN A SCHOOL SYSTEM TO BE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, BE APPEALING TO FAMILIES TO MOVE HERE, YOU KNOW, PARTICULARLY IF THEY WANT THEIR CHILDREN TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS LIKE THIS. SO I WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT. AND IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY OUR COMMUNITY LEADERS. AND. SO I WOULD GO ON FROM THERE TO TALK ABOUT ALSO LAST WEEK MENTIONED THAT WE WERE WE HAD A NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM THIS BOARD AND OUR STAFF AT THE MARYLAND ASSOCIATION OF BOARDS OF EDUCATION CONFERENCE. AND A COUPLE OF THINGS I'D LIKE TO TAKE NOTE OF FROM THAT. DOCTOR MUELLER WAS THE CO-CHAIR OF THE CONFERENCE, AND SHE'S ACTUALLY BEEN A LEADER IN THE BOARDS OF BOARD OF EDUCATION. THE STATE LEVEL ORGANIZATION, FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. AND SO IT WAS IT WAS, YOU KNOW, IT WAS A FANTASTIC CONFERENCE. AND SHE WAS A BIG PART OF MAKING THAT HAPPEN. AND DOCTOR BOYNTON AND MISS RIDGEWAY AND I PRESENTED ON THE TOPICAL TOPIC OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RESOURCES AND OUTCOMES. WE HAD A LOT OF REALLY GOOD FEEDBACK FROM PEOPLE ACROSS THE STATE BECAUSE, I MEAN, AS YOU'LL SEE LATER WHEN WE START TALKING BUDGET, I MEAN, IF YOU PAID ATTENTION TO THE LAST FEW YEARS OF OUR BUDGET, YOU KNOW, OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION BUDGET ITSELF IS IS GROWING AT A MUCH FASTER RATE THAN OUR OVERALL BUDGET. AND THAT IS SOMETHING WE'VE BEEN DOING A GREAT DEAL OF RESEARCH ON AND REALLY LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS TO BOTH IMPROVE OUTCOMES WHILE TRYING TO ARREST THE BUDGET GROWTH IN THAT AREA, WHICH, YOU KNOW, IT'S HARD TO DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, BUT THAT'S WHAT WE'RE WORKING TOWARD. AND THEN, OF COURSE, AS MR. MCVICKER ACKNOWLEDGED, HE WAS ALSO ON A STUDENT PANEL, DID A FANTASTIC JOB REPRESENTING NOT JUST HARFORD COUNTY, BUT STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE. SO IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO BRING EVERYONE TOGETHER TO GET TO HEAR WHAT'S GOING ON IN OTHER DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE. AND TO SOME DEGREE, IT'S KIND OF GROUP THERAPY, RIGHT? BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, WE HEAR THAT, YOU KNOW, THE THINGS THAT WE'RE CONFRONTING HERE ARE VERY SIMILAR IN OTHER PLACES. JUST A COUPLE OTHER QUICK THINGS I'D LIKE TO MENTION DID HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO ON A, ON A ACTUALLY A PERFECT DAY FOR RUNNING. IT'S SATURDAY MORNING. AND I THIS SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING THAT THE THE GROUP IS GOING TO CONTINUE. THERE'S BEEN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT POSSIBLY DOING ONE IN THE SPRING THIS YEAR. SO WE'LL WE'LL SEE WHERE THAT GOES. SO AS I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE MAGNET PROGRAMS A MOMENT AGO, I JUST WANTED TO REMIND PEOPLE THAT APPLICATIONS FOR STUDENTS TO BE IN THOSE PROGRAMS ARE DUE DECEMBER 3RD. SO WE HAVE ANOTHER MONTH TO CONSIDER THOSE. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE NOMINATIONS RIGHT NOW, AND WE KEEP THOSE NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR A WHILE. BUT ON DECEMBER 1ST, WE'LL CLOSE THE NOMINATIONS FOR BUS DRIVER AND BUS ATTENDANT OF THE YEAR. SO AGAIN, IF YOU HAVE THOSE GREAT SORT OF FIRST LINE EXPERIENCES WITH WITH OUR PEOPLE WHO GET OUR KIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL SAFELY, PLEASE TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO NOMINATE THEM.
