EVER QUICK COMMITTEE REPORT. OUR COVID MITIGATION GROUP MET THIS PAST FRIDAY, DISCUSSING HOW THINGS WERE GOING SO FAR, THEN PLANS FOR CONTINUED TESTING, HOMECOMING DANCES AND WAR. THERE IS A LOT OF GOOD NEWS. HARFORD COUNTY IS RATE OF NEW COVID CASES HAS PART OWED WELL, WE STILL HAVE HIGH TRANSMISSION IN THE COMMUNITY. OUR COUNTY HAS A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER CASE STRAIGHT THAN OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTIES TO THE EAST AND NORTH. I HOPE WE CAN

[00:05:01]

CONTINUE TO KEEP OUR CASE ST. STABLE OR GOING DOWN THE YEAR PROGRESSES. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, DR PHILLIPS. UH, THANK YOU, UM. AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME, I'M GOING TO KEEP IT RELATIVELY SHORT. UM, I JUST WANT TO. AH, THANK YOU, UH, ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF, FORGETTING OUR SCHOOL YEAR OFF. TO A FAIRLY DECENT START ON TIME WITH JUST SOME VERY MINOR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I BELIEVE, UM. I LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ALL THE STUDENT ATHLETES FOR MAKING APPEARANCE BACK ON THE FIELD. UM WINTER LOSING. UM THE FACT THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET YOU THE FACT THAT YOU'VE GOTTEN BACK ON THE FIELD IS A WIN FOR EVERYBODY INVOLVED. AND, UM.

LOOKING FORWARD TO A CONTINUATION OF A, UH, GOOD FALL SEMESTER AND, UH, HOPEFULLY WITH TIME WE'LL SEE. UM OUR FRIEND THE DELTA VARIANT SLOWLY DRIFT AWAY. WE DON'T KNOW WHO IS GOING TO LEAVE IN HIS WAKE AS FAR AS WHICH ONE OF HIS BROTHERS SISTERS HE'S GOING TO BRING ALONG WITH THEM, UM. BUT HOPEFULLY WHATEVER VARIANTS. AH COME AFTER, UM UH, DELTA WON'T BE NEARLY AS UH, IRELAND IS THIS GUY HAS BEEN, BUT HE'S GOING TO BE SHORT LIVED, I BELIEVE, AND, UH HOPEFULLY BY NOVEMBER ONE WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN OUR NUMBERS, WHICH ARE ALREADY DROPPING. THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, SIR.

MISS KELLY. UM I JUST WANTED TO ECHO A DOCTOR PHILLIPS SAID. YOU KNOW, THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF BUT A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO OUR AMAZING SCHOOL NURSES. I KNOW IT'S BEEN OUT ROUGH START, BUT I KNOW A NURSE THAT MY KIDS SAW HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY HELPFUL IN ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND INCREDIBLY PATIENT, SO I JUST WANTED TO RECOGNIZE OUR NURSES.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MR ROBINSON. NO COMMENTS THIS EVENING. THANK YOU. CANADIANS HAVE ANYTHING FOR IT. NO COMMENTS THIS EVENING. THANK YOU, DR MUELLER. I HAVE NO COMMENTS, EITHER. THANK YOU. ALREADY AND I JUST WANT TO ECHO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS SAYING, UM, BEEN A HEAVY LIFT THAN A BEEN THE HARDEST START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. THAT I CAN NEVER REMEMBER HAVING AN OVER 20 YEARS IN EDUCATION. AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE ADMINISTRATORS WHO ARE DOING A GREAT JOB AND OUR TEACHERS. YOU KNOW, YOU GUYS ARE JUST AMAZING.

AND OUR SCHOOL NURSES I JUST CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE AND I AM SO GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU AND OUR CUSTODIAL STAFF FOR KEEPING THINGS CLEAN AND EVERYBODY'S WORKING UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE. AND PLEASE KNOW THAT WE ALL NOTICE IT AND WE APPRECIATE YOU AND WHAT YOU WERE DOING. VERY, VERY MUCH. AND AS FAR AS THE STUDENTS. WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'RE BACK. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. WE'RE SO GLAD THIS IS THE. ALMOST NORMAL SCHOOL YEAR, AND WE'RE SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT PEOPLE ARE EXCITED ABOUT HOMECOMING AND. CLUBS ARE RESTARTING AND TV YOU KNOW, ANNOUNCEMENTS AT SCHOOLS WERE RESTARTING AND. THINGS ARE STARTING TO LOOK A LITTLE BIT

[C. Public Comments]

MORE NORMAL IN THE SCHOOLHOUSE. UM AND WE'RE ALL PRETTY HAPPY ABOUT THAT. SO WITH THAT. LET'S MOVE ON TO SOME PUBLIC COMMENTS. REGISTERED SPEAKERS WILL BE ADMITTED VIRTUALLY TO THE MEETING THIS EVENING, AND WE'LL BE GREETED ON THE CALL BY AN HCPS STAFF MEMBER WHEN IT IS TIME TO BEGIN THEIR PUBLIC COMMENTS. ALL SPEAKERS, REGARDLESS OF AFFILIATION, WILL RECEIVE THREE MINUTES PER SPEAKER. SPEAKERS MAY BE INTERRUPTED AND BE GIVEN NOTICE WHEN THEY HAVE 30 SECONDS LEFT. WHEN SPEAKERS HAVE REACHED THEIR THREE MINUTE MARK.

DOLLARS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE MEETING. THE BOARD WILL RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE NOTICE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING DATED SEPTEMBER 27TH 2021. AND JUST SO EVERYONE LISTENING IS AWARE WE ONLY HAVE 12 SPEAKERS SIGNED UP FOR THIS EVENING, WHICH IS BY VERY EVERYONE IS GETTING THREE MINUTES. BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT ANYONE WHO IS NOT ON AT THIS POINT YOU NEED TO GET ON. AND THAT WAY YOU DON'T GET LEFT OUT BECAUSE WE WILL BE ENDING THE PUBLIC COMMENT SECTION WHEN ALL OF OUR SPEAKERS ARE DONE. MS LATER. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BEGIN PUBLIC COMMENTS FOR US? THANK YOU, PRESIDENT GO EARLIER, BEFORE WE BEGIN JUST A QUICK REMINDER FOR OUR SPEAKERS IN THE LOBBY THAT IF WE DO, UH, IF ALL 12 MEMBER REGISTERED SPEAKERS DO JOIN US, AND WE DID YOU REACH THAT 30 MINUTE MAXIMUM WAIT TIME THAT IF YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY REMOVED THE LOBBY AFTER 30 MINUTES, PLEASE CALL BACK AND RE ENTER. I WILL DO MY BEST TO NOTICE SOMEONE'S REMOVED FROM THE LIBRARY LOBBY JUST PRIOR TO CONCLUDING PUBLIC COMMENT TO ALLOW TIME FOR YOU TO CALL BACK SO AGAIN. JUST REMEMBER IF YOU IF YOU WERE KICKED OUT WITHIN THAT 30 MINUTE, WAIT TIME, PLEASE CALL BACK RIGHT AWAY. AND WITH THAT. GOOD EVENING YOU ARE NOW IN THE BOARD OF

[00:10:13]

EDUCATION MEETING BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT, PLEASE STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME. YOUR TIME WILL CONCLUDE IN THREE MINUTES YOU WILL HEAR A BELL RING WHEN YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS REMAINING. PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOU MAY BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT NOW. GOOD EVENING, AND IT WAS LIKE PAULUS. I HAVE A I HAVE 1/6 GRADE. UH, STUDENT AT AS GOOD MIDDLE AT THE LAST BOARD MEETING. BUSHED ALL US PARENTS DIED. YOU CAN ENACT A DRACONIAN MASKING OF OUR CHILDREN IN THE NAME OF STOPPING COVID. ALL TEACHERS, UNION ACTIVISTS BROKE YOUR EGOS CALLING IN PRETENDING TO BE PARENTS. SOUNDING LIKE THEY WERE ALL GIVEN THE SAME SHEET OF PAPER TO READ FROM. BUT TALKING POINTS ABOUT THE CDC, AMERICAN PEDIATRICS ASSOCIATION AND DYING BUT THE SAME WORDS AND PHRASES. AS IF YOU ALL THINK THE REST OF US OUR SOUP. DESPITE ACTUAL SCIENCE TOLD US MATH WORK. AND ALL OF OUR CHILDREN MUST NOW WEAR ONES SO THAT YOU DON'T GET BREAD COVID. SO TELL ME WHY, AFTER ONE WEEK OF SCHOOL, SIXTH GRADE AUTISTIC CHILD. WAS SENT HOME FOR A NON NEGOTIABLE TWO WEEK QUARANTINE.

BECAUSE SOMETIMES DURING THE DAY YOU MIGHT HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH ANOTHER CHILD TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID. THE SCHOOL WOULDN'T TELL US HOW WHEN OR WHERE. THE KIDS WERE MASKED. RIGHT? SO THEREFORE THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO DANGER OF THE SPREADING.

BECAUSE, ACCORDING TO YOU, AND THE GUYS THAT CALLED IN THE LAST MEETING, PRETENDING TO BE A MILITARY, CHEMICAL ENGINEER, MATH WORK, RIGHT? WHY WAS MY SON SENT HOME? HE IS NOW TWO WEEKS BEHIND, COMING OUT OF THE GATE, BECAUSE DURING THIS PUNISHMENT, AND I CALL IT A PUNISHMENT. ALL OF YOU WERE GIVEN FOR SOME ASSIGNMENTS ONLINE. BUT NOT ACTUALLY ABLE TO LEARN THE MATERIAL FROM A TEACHER AT NEITHER YOU. OR THE SUPERINTENDENT FOR SMARTER FORWARD THINKING ENOUGH CAMERAS IN THE CLASSROOM. CHILDREN COULD BE TAUGHT THE MATERIAL THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO MAGICALLY KNOW WHEN YOU PUNISH THEM TO THEIR HOMES FOR TWO WEEKS.

YOU'VE ALL PROVEN TO US. NONE OF YOU. NONE OF YOU. CARE ABOUT OUR KIDS. SCIENCE. OR ANYTHING BUT BOWING DOWN TO THE TEACHERS. SPEAKING OF THE TEACHERS UNION, WHY HAVEN'T ANY OF YOU BROUGHT UP WERE VOTED TO MANDATE TEACHERS GETTING VACCINATED. YOU DON'T NEED TO ANSWER BECAUSE AGAIN, YOU KNOW, EUROPE OCRACY, AND WE'RE NOT STUPID DESPITE WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY. AND BY THE WAY, MR BOLSON, OUR SUPERINTENDENT WHO DOESN'T LIVE IN HARFORD COUNTY. ARE YOUR KIDS MASKED IN THEIR SCHOOL? THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T GO TO HARPER COUNTY SCHOOLS. THE SPEAKER IS OUT OF SCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL ATTACKS THERE. FIVE SIMPLY ASKING A SIMPLE QUESTION. IF HIS KIDS WERE MASKED MINE ARE. ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT MY SON HAD BEEN YOU WEEKS OF RELIGIOUS SCHOOL SERVICES, BOY SCOUT MEETING OTHER ACTIVITIES AND WE HAD TO CANCEL A FAMILY TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND. AND FOR NOTHING. AND MY SON ACTUALLY NEVER GOT COVID NEVER GOT IT FROM THE REACHED THE THREE MINUTE, MARK. THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING. YOU ARE NOW ON THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT, PLEASE STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME. YOUR TIME WILL CONCLUDE IN THREE MINUTES. YOU WILL HEAR A BELL RING WHEN YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS REMAINING.

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOU MAY BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT NOW. PHONE NUMBER ENDING IN 3810 IF YOU CAN HEAR ME. IF YOU DON'T MIND PHONE NUMBER ENDING IN 3810 IF YOU CAN UM, PAST STAR SIX, JUST IN CASE YOU'RE MUTED ON YOUR END. HELLO. HELLO WE CAN HEAR YOU.

NOW YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT. YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES. YOU'LL HEAR THAT BELL RING WHEN YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS REMAINING. OKAY I'M THAT I HAVE GOT TO HAVE QUESTIONS. OR IS THAT NOT, UM, PERMITTED IN IN THIS CONTEXT? FOR PUBLIC COMMENT. YOU ARE INVITED TO PROVIDE YOUR COMMENT. YOU ARE WELCOME TO ASK QUESTIONS IN THAT COMMENT. WE DO NOT TYPICALLY RESPOND IN THIS SETTING. OKAY? WELL, MY NAME IS PLANNING TO NATO AND

[00:15:05]

I'M A RESIDENT OF HARSHER COUNTY AS WELL AS A PARENT. AND I GUESS MY QUESTION IS. ON WHAT BASIS WAS THE MASK MANDATE MADE ON BECAUSE IN AN EMAIL SOMETIME AGO, I DID CHALLENGE THE BOARD TO PROVIDE UM, SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE. AH OF THE NEED FOR MATH AND THE EFFICACY OF MASKS, AND I HAVE NOT HEARD. ANYTHING BACK AND AS A NURSE OF OVER 30 YEARS, I AM A PERSON OF SCIENCE AND I HAVE LOOKED AT THE DATA. SO I'M VERY CURIOUS AS. TO HELD THE BOARD GAMES TO THAT.

DECISION. AND I WOULD HOPE THAT I WOULD. RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO THAT, AT LEAST VIA EMAIL.

WHENEVER I HAVE EMAILS, THE BOARD I ONLY GET A RESPONSE FROM, UM I THINK HER NAME IS YVONNE. NEVER FROM INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBERS, AND I THINK THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE IN YOUR HANDBOOK IT DOES TAKE COMMUNICATION. WITH THE PUBLIC IS. CRUCIAL BUT I FEEL LIKE I AM HITTING ROADBLOCKS WHENEVER I ASKED THE QUESTIONS REQUIRING AN ANSWER. FROM THE BOARD OR A BOARD MEMBER. IS THAT THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT, MA'AM. IT IS I, AS MADE OTHER COMMENTS OF OTHER TIMES, BUT THAT THAT REALLY IS A PRESSING. QUESTION THAT I AM ASKING AS A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER AND I DO EXPECT AN ANSWER. OKAY. THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING. YOU ARE NOW ON THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT, PLEASE STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME. YOUR TIME WILL CONCLUDE IN THREE MINUTES. YOU WILL HEAR A BELL RING WHEN YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS REMAINING, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOU MAY BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT NOW. PHONE NUMBER ENDING IN 5314. CAN YOU HEAR ME? YES. OKAY. YOU CAN SHARE YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT AT THIS TIME. YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES. OKAY UM, YEAH, I JUST I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING PREPARED, AM, UH, JUST KIND OF GOING OFF OF MY HEART HERE, UM, BASICALLY JUST WANTED TO BAR. WHAT? ALL THE MEMBERS KNOW THAT. I APPRECIATE THEIR TIME I REALIZE THAT TIME IS VERY VALUABLE. UM APPRECIATE THEM, YOU KNOW? HAVING THIS MEETING AND TAKING TIME OUT OF THEIR DAYS TO LOOK AT THESE SUBJECTS, BUT. THE WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE. WHAT OUR KIDS ARE GOING THROUGH IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM CURRENTLY, UM THIS IS YOU KNOW, THIS IS JUST COMING FROM MY HEART. UM IT'S. WE'RE NOW WATCHING AND. YOU KNOW IF YOU REALLY ASKED THE KIDS LIKE WHAT'S GOING ON? I THINK THAT YOU PEOPLE WHO MIGHT SAY THAT THEY'RE HAPPY, BUT I DON'T REALLY THINK THEY ARE. I REALLY THINK THAT THEY'RE VERY, UM. THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE THEIR MOM AND DAD'S HAPPY. BUT WHEN YOUR MOM AND DAD ARE ASKING ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON, UM. COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO SAY YEAH, LIKE IT'S OKAY. EVERYTHING'S GOOD, BUT. NOTHING IS CONSISTENT, AND NOTHSENSE. US ONLY GOING TO BE LIKE SO MUCH THAT AS A PARENT, I CAN JUST STAND BY AND WATCH AND WITHOUT.

UM STARTED TO INTERVENE, AND I THINK YOU KNOW, I JUST BASICALLY JUST WANT THE BOARD TO KNOW THAT EVERYBODY'S WATCHING VERY CLOSELY AND. UM WHEN THINGS AREN'T MAKING FRESH.

WELL MORE QUESTIONS ARE GOING TO BE ASKED, SO I THINK WE JUST NEED TO TAKE THE RIGHT STEPS.

TO HEAD IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, AND WHAT THE KIDS ARE CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH IS NOT THE RIGHT DIRECTION IN MY OPINION. SO THAT THERE'S REALLY JUST MYSELF. IF YOU CAN. YOU CAN PROVIDE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME, SIR. SIR. UH, FRANK WINTER. THANK YOU. THAT'S JUST

[00:20:05]

WHAT I SAID. MAKES SENSE. WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT START IS JUST THAT CONCLUDE YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT. MHM. OKAY. THANK YOU. HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING. I STILL.

GOOD EVENING. YOU ARE NOW IN THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT, PLEASE STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME YOUR TIME. LOOK, INCLUDING THREE MINUTES YOU WILL HEAR A BELL RING WHEN YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS REMAINING, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOU MAY BEGIN YOUR PUBLIC COMMENT NOW. PHONE NUMBER ENDING IN 8162. CAN YOU HEAR ME? YEAH I'M HERE. THANK YOU. IF YOU CAN INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES. MY NAME IS MY NAME IS MATCHED UP. UM. I'D LIKE TO START OFF WITH, UM I THINK VIRTUAL MEETINGS ARE COWARDICE. UM WE NEED TO BE IN PERSON. YOU NEED TO SEE THE PEOPLE THAT YOU MAKE THE RULES STORY. YOU NEED TO SEE THE PARENTS OF THE KIDS THAT MAKE THE RULES YOUR BOTTOM LINE. MY KIDS CAN BE IN SCHOOL ALL DAY WITH A MASK ON. YOU CAN SIT WITH A MASK ON AND HAVE PUBLIC COMMENTS EVERYBODY IS SEEING RIGHT THERE. I WAS THE ONLY DISCUSS HIS CHILDHOOD OBESITY.

IF YOU WANT TO PUT A MASK ON MY CHILD ALL DAY. EVERY DAY, THEN. THEN YOU CAN ALSO ADDRESS OTHER CONCERNS OF CHILDHOOD OBESITY. MY STYLE HAD BEEN ONCE A WEEK. YOU KNOW THAT'S CREATING.

THERE'S A 2020% OF THE KIDS IN UNITED STATES. ROP SENT OVER 14 MILLION CHILDREN. AND I HAVE AND I HAVE BEEN ONCE A WEEK. WHAT IS THAT? THAT THIRD ABOUT? OH, WE HAVE TO PROTECT SILVER PROTECT HIM. THAT WAY IT LEADS TO ADULT HE KNOWS NOT TO SOVIET DEATH 70% OF CHESTER. OVER THE UNITED STATES FROM THE OVERWEIGHT. HOW CAN WE EXPRESS THAT BOARD OF EDUCATION? OH I GOT A IDEA START YOUNG WHEN THEIR CHILDREN START DUNK. START THAT DOWN, BUT WE'RE NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE BEST, BUT SO WHEN DOES THE BEST COME OFF? THAT'S WHAT I WANT. BUT YOU HAVE TO GET TO THAT. THE MAN COME OFF, STAY OFF. AND WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO GO TO FOR THEM TO COME ON AGAINST THAT? WE WANT TO HEAR. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ALL THINGS ARE GOING GREAT. KIDS ARE JUST WEARING MASK BALL. THAT'S GREAT. THE ROBOT BACON ROBOTS. THINK. AND IT'S DISCUSSING. WE ONLY HAVE 12 REGISTERED SPEAKERS HERE REALLY STUFF THAT HAPPENED TO DO THAT. JUST. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. WELL, LET'S DO IT AGAIN. IF WE'RE GOING TO. WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE MAN. BUT TALK ABOUT OBESITY IN CHILDREN. OKAY, I LOOK AROUND AND NOT THE BOOK FAT TOO. WE'LL GO WITH. YOU KNOW WHAT? THAT DOESN'T MAKE SLEEP, THAT ADULT AND THAT LIKE THAT AT ALL. LET'S DO SOMETHING FOR REALLY GOING TO DO SOMETHING. LET'S NOT LET'S NOT VIRTUE SIGNAL. LET'S GO ALL THE WAY. THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING. WHAT DO YOU GUYS SAY ABOUT THAT? ANY COMMENT, AND SO YOU HAD NO COMMENT WITH THE STUFFED. SO LISTEN. OUR KIDS ARE AROUND HERE WHERE MAN IS ALL DONE. I CAN'T BREATHE. HE NEEDS TO SMILE. THE SMART BUT. TEACHERS NEED TO SEE THAT JUST AROUND RUNNING STIRRED? NO THAT'S GOOD, BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO, BUT WE CAN'T TAKE THE MASK OFF HERE. WE'RE GOING TO GET YELLED AT COME, BOY. THAT'S ALL LIKE.

BLUE. THIS IS ALAN SAMUELS, HARFORD COUNTY. I'M A FEDERAL WORKER, I SCIENTISTS. AND I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A COMMENT. WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD AND TO ALL OF OUR WELL LEADERS AND TEACHERS AND SCHOOL NURSES. I WANTED TO COMMENT. THAT THE SITUATION THAT WE'RE IN WITH THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC. IS OBVIOUSLY A VERY DIFFICULT ONE.

AND I COMMEND THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN THE MEASURE. OF FOLLOWING THE GUIDANCE OF THE OFFICIALS THAT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF DEPUTY IDEOLOGY. AND HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE DATA. I UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTY ARE VERY CONCERNED AND ARE. FINDING DATA SOURCES THAT CONTRADICT THAT THAT'S BEEN PRESENTED BY OUR SELF PROFESSIONALS. AND THEY DEFINITELY HAVE A RIGHT TO THEIR OPINION. HOWEVER, THE DATA SPEAKS CLEARLY. THE MASKS.

[00:25:01]

ARE IN EFFECT EFFECTIVE. THEY REDUCE THE RATE OF SPREAD. AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY. AS CITIZENS. TO CONTRIBUTE. TO THE REDUCTION OF COMMUNITY SPREAD. OF THIS. PANDEMIC CAUSING VIRUS. BOTH I AGAIN COMMEND THOSE STORE FOLLOWING THE GUIDANCE THAT CDC HAS PLACED, UH, IN. PUT IN PLACE FOR OUR SCHOOL SYSTEMS TO WORK AROUND. AND TO ACCOMMODATE. AND I REALIZED THE CHALLENGES, UM, THAT A LOT OF FAMILIES ARE ENCOUNTERING. IN DEALING WITH THE UH HUH. PSYCHOLOGICAL STIGMA THAT THEY OF, UH IN PLACE. ON PUTTING THEIR KIDS IN MASKS. THAT AND THE SCHOOL THAT WAY. I WILL SAY THAT THE DATA IS COMPELLING. IT IS REAL. AND IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE CHECK THEIR SOURCES. AND FOLLOW THE GUIDANCE BY THOSE WHO HAVE A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF THE SCIENCE. AND I KNOW THAT'S A DIFFICULT TASK. IN TERMS OF. UH NOTIFYING FAMILIES. UM I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TRUE. BUT I'VE PICKED UP IN COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARDS THAT THERE'S. A PRACTICE AMONG SOME OF THE SCHOOLS. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S AT THIS COUNTY WIDE OR NOT. UH, THOSE ARE. NOT NECESSARILY NOTIFYING FAMILIES OF THOSE, UH IN THE CLASSROOMS. WHO HAVE BEEN PRESENTED WITH A POSITIVE COVID OUTCOME. UH, JUST AS A COMMENT IT IS MY POSITION. AT ANY POSITIVE OUTCOME. UH SHOULD RESULT IN A NOTIFICATION OF THOSE FAMILIES, THE EVENT THAT THEY HAVE AN IMMUNE COMPROMISE OR ELDERLY VALLEY MEMBER IN THEIR HOME. UH, THE. YOU HAVE REACHED THE THREE MINUTE, MARK. THANK YOU. PRESIDENT GAUTIER

[D. Consent Agenda]

THAT CONCLUDES OUR PUBLIC COMMENT SPEAKERS THAT WERE WAITING IN THE LOBBY. GREAT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. DR MUELLER, CAN YOU PLEASE READ THE CONSENT AGENDA FOR US? AFTER MUELLER.

OR I CAN READ SOME SEND AGENDA. NO BUT HERE WE GO READING. I WAS READING IT MUTED BECAUSE THAT'S OKAY. I APOLOGIZE. THANK YOU FOR WHAT NUMBER ONE IS AFFIRMATION OF MONTHLY CONTRACTS. AUGUST 2021. I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. AND THIS IS JOYCE LIST. THANK YOU VERY MUCH ALL IN FAVOR. PLEASE SAY YES. YES, YEAH. YES, AND THOSE OPPOSED. PLEASE SAY

[E. Update on Continuity of Learning, Dr. Sean Bulson, Superintendent of Schools]

NO. ALREADY BUT THAT WE MOVE ON TO UPDATE AND CONTINUITY OF LEARNING DOCTOR BOLSON. ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE. AND THANK YOU. UM THIS EVENING. I WANT TO FOCUS, UH, ON THREE PEOPLE WHO I THINK YOU HEAR FROM REGULARLY. UM WE'RE GOING TO START WITH MR RIDGEWAY THAT MR SUDA AND THEN DR BROWN, AND THEN WE'LL OPEN IT UP FOR QUESTIONS. UM SO WE WERE. WE HAVE A HUGE CHANGES COMING FORWARD, AND SO YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR ABOUT THOSE TONIGHT AND SO I'M SURE THAT WILL, UH, CREATE SOME QUESTIONS, BUT LIKE TO START. BY ASKING MR RIDGEWAY TO TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE SPECIFICS AND THEN WE'LL MOVE TO CONSIDER SOME MISS RIDGEWAY.

YOU READ WRONG? YES I AM HURT. GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE. I EXCUSE ME. SORRY AS WE HAVE ALL EXPERIENCED CHANGES ARE ONGOING IN THIS PANDEMIC. SPECIFICALLY SINCE SCHOOL STARTED, THERE HAD

[00:30:03]

BEEN A COUPLE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IMPACTING DECISION MAKING. OF GREAT SUPPORT. ONE OF THESE CHANGES INCLUDES THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION ISSUE ON MANDATE OR MANDATED. EXCUSE ME GOING TO TAKE A DRINK OF WATER. EXCUSE ME. AS YOU CAN TELL. I PREPARED MY COMMENTS EVENING AND I'M PROBABLY BETTER OFF THE CUFF. BUT I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING FOR EVERYONE. SO UM WHAT SO, STARTING OFF THE CHANGE WITH THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, WHICH ISSUED A MANDATE ABOUT UNIVERSAL MASKING. ANOTHER CHANGING FACTOR FOR DECISION MAKING. OR THE COVID METRICS IN OUR ACCOUNTING, WHERE WE SAW TIME PERIODS OF HIGHER TRANSMISSION EARLIER IN SEPTEMBER, AND THEN THIS LAST WEEK, WE CONSISTENTLY SAW METRICS AT OR BELOW 5% POSITIVITY. TODAY'S HARPER COUNTY COVID. 19 POSITIVITY METRICS ARE 4.48% POSITIVITY AND 17.34 CASES PER 100,000 RESIDENTS IN HARTFORD COUNTY.

LASTLY WE ALSO HAVE OUR OWN HTTPS DATA AND EXPERIENCE FROM FULL SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND ONGOING AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE PROVIDED ADDITIONAL INSIGHT ABOUT COVID MITIGATION THAT IS HELPFUL FOR OUR DECISION MAKING. WITH THIS IN MIND, WE ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH A FEW CHANGES AND UPDATES AND WE HAVE SOME SPECIFICS FOR YOU THIS EVENING. SPECIFICALLY WE ARE UPDATING OUR CONTACT. TRACING EFFORTS FOR QUARANTINING STUDENTS. WE'RE UPDATING OUR OPERATIONAL STATUS REFLECTS THE LOWER COVID 19 POSITIVITY IN HARTFORD COUNTY.

AND WE ARE FOCUSING ADDITIONAL PREVENTION EFFORTS ON VOLUNTARY HIGH RISK ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO IMPACT THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO STAY IN CLASS. NOW THE OPERATIONAL STATUS WILL BE RELEASED AND EFFECTIVE TOMORROW AND IN THAT YOU WILL FIND THAT VOLUNTEERS ESSENTIAL TO THE SCHOOL AND INDOOR USE OF FACILITIES WILL RESUME IN OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS, AND I KNOW MANY IN OUR COMMUNITY WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO THOSE CHANGES. ALL STAFF BUT RECEIVED DETAILS OF THESE CHANGES WHO ARE ONLINE SAFE SCHOOL TRAINING PLATFORM.

FAMILIES WILL RECEIVE A LETTER AND WE WILL UPDATE OUR WEB FACING OPERATIONAL STATUS DOCUMENT AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. IMPORTANT TO OUR MESSAGE THROUGHOUT. ALL OF THESE CHANGES, THOUGH, IS THAT SAFETY LAYERS DO REMAIN IN PLACE, AND HCPS IS STILL COMMITTED TO STAYING HOME WHEN SICK WEARING MASKS. WASHING HANDS, DISTANCING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, PROVIDING COVID TESTING AND SUPPORTING VACCINATION. SO THAT'S THE GENERAL OVERVIEW ABOUT THE TYPES OF CHANGES AS WELL AS REFERENCING OUR OPERATIONAL STATUS CHANGES. BUT WITH THAT MY TEAMMATE MARRIED SUDHA WILL PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT CONTACT TRACING CHANGES. AND SOME OTHER HEALTH SPECIFIC UPDATE. SO, UM, PASSING THE BATON TO MARRY? THANK YOU. KATIE QUICK HEALTH SERVICES REPORT. CURRENTLY WE HAVE 515 STUDENTS IN ISOLATION IN 961 IN QUARANTINE 42 STAFF MEMBERS IN ISOLATION AND 14 STAFF MEMBERS IN QUARANTINE. THERE ARE FIVE OUTBREAKS, UM, LISTED ON THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WEBSITE FOR AFRICA COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. TO DATE, WE HAVE CONDUCTED 475 RAPID IMAGING TESTS WITH 28 POSITIVE 126 PCR TEST 10 POSITIVES, ALTHOUGH WE'RE NOT OVER THE COVID PANDEMIC, WE ARE ABLE TO MAKE SOME SLIGHT ADJUSTMENTS TO OUR PLANS BASED ON THE NEW COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION DATA. ONE BIG CHANGE THAT WILL BEGIN TOMORROW. TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH WILL BE THAT OUR QUARANTINE PERIOD WILL BE SHORTENED FROM 14 DAYS TO 10 DAYS. ANYONE PLACED INTO QUARANTINE BEFORE THIS DATE, MAYBE TURN TO SCHOOL 10 DAYS AFTER THEIR LAST EXPOSURE TO A PERSON WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID 19. THE SECOND CHANGE IS RELATED TO OUR STUDENT TO STUDENT CONTACT. TRACING STARTING TOMORROW WE WILL FOCUS OUR STUDENT TO STUDENT CONTACT TRACING ON UNMASKED ACTIVITIES. WE ARE COMMITTED TO ISOLATING ANY PERSONS WITH COVID 19 AND CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS TO DETERMINE THE MOST LIKELY CLOSE CONTACTS AT RISK FOR TRANSMISSION, SIBLINGS, OTHER SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN IN THE HOME AND THOSE SEATED SIX FT FROM EACH OTHER DURING UNMASKED ACTIVITIES. SUCH AS BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AND ATHLETICS. HOWEVER, OUR CONTACT TRACING INVESTIGATIONS THAT INVOLVE CONTACT WITH ANY STAFF MEMBERS WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED. I CAUTION EVERYONE THAT THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER TO STAY SAFE AND MOVING FORWARD TOWARD NORMALCY AS STRONGLY URGE EVERYONE TO FOLLOW THOSE MITIGATION STRATEGIES THAT KATIE TALKED ABOUT. STAYING HOME WHEN YOU'RE ILL, IS CHIEFLY IMPORTANT AND CRUCIAL FOR US FOR OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH AND FOR KEEPING SCHOOLS OPEN, WEARING A WELL FITTED MASK CORRECTLY AND CONSISTENTLY. WE KNOW THAT MASK WORKS. WE HAVE SEEN THE RESEARCH AND OUR SCHOOL EXPERIENCE SHOWS IT AS WELL. SOCIALLY DISTANCING WHENEVER AND WHEREVER POSSIBLE. IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT NOT TO SLACK OFF ON THIS STAFF. I'VE NOTICED THIS REALLY IN MOVING ABOUT THE COMMUNITY IN GENERAL, THAT COULD BE, DR BOLTON OFTEN SAYS WE NEED TO GIVE EACH OTHER GRACE. I ALSO MENTIONED WE NEED

[00:35:05]

TO GIVE EACH OTHER SPACE. THIS IS A RESPIRATORY VIRUS AND SPACE MATTERS. CONSIDER VACCINATION. IF YOU'RE ELIGIBLE. I ASK PEOPLE TO TALK TO THEIR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER ABOUT THEIR BEST OPTIONS AND, OF COURSE, PRACTICING GOOD PUBLIC HEALTH AND PERSONAL HEALTH MEASURES WASHING YOUR HANDS, EATING A GOOD DIET, EXERCISING AND GETTING SUFFICIENT SLEEP. I DON'T KNOW WHAT COVID WILL BRING NEXT, BUT I DO KNOW THAT OUR ACTIONS WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I WANT TO THANK SCHOOL NURSES WHO HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB WORKING THROUGH THE PANDEMIC. THEY'VE DONE IT WITH GRACE AND PROFESSIONALISM, OFTEN WHEN FACED WITH INSTABILITY. THEIR TRUE HEROES, AND I'M GRATEFUL FOR THEM EVERY DAY. THINK DR BROWN IS UP.

THING EVERYONE. IT'S PLEASURE TO BE HERE THIS EVENING AND TO BE ABLE TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM AND HOW WE ARE SUPPORTING ERIC QUARANTINE STUDENTS. FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WANT TO THANK OUR TEACHERS EVERY DAY FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING. UM IT IS JUST AMAZING WHEN I HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL CLASSROOMS OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS AND. JUST THE INNOVATION AND TAKING CARE OF THE CHILDREN THAT ARE IN THEIR CARE. UM, IT'S PRETTY AMAZING WORK THAT THEY DO EVERY DAY. UM FIRST AND FOREMOST, OUR TEACHERS ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF THEIR STUDENTS, UM, WHETHER THEY ARE IN THE CLASSROOM OR WHETHER THEY HAVE AN ABSENCE AND PART OF. THE SUPPORT THAT A TEACHER PROVIDES 22 STUDENTS WHO ARE ABSENT IS REALLY CREATING MAKEUP WORK SO THAT STUDENTS DON'T GET FAR BEHIND. IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT, UM PRIOR TO COVID, FOR INSTANCE, IF A FAMILY WAS TAKING A VACATION OR IF THERE WAS AN ANOTHER ILLNESS THAT TOOK. A COUPLE OF LONGER DAYS THAN JUST 24 HOUR PERIOD, TEACHERS WOULD PULL TOGETHER MAKEUP WORK AND MUCH OF THAT WORK THAT THEY WOULD HAVE DONE PRIOR TO KING GOLD. WE ARE SEEING NOW AS STUDENTS ARE BEING QUARANTINED. I WOULD LIKE TO START WITH THE LARGE VIEW. UM, RECENTLY, THE MARYLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. FORD INFORMATION FROM THE REST OF THE COUNTY AND IN SO I'M SORRY, UH, AROUND THE REST OF THE STATE FROM ALL OF THE LOCAL EDUCATIONAL AGENCIES. AND AS SUCH, I READ THROUGH THE INFORMATION AND PULL TOGETHER WHAT'S HAPPENING ACROSS THE STATE AND IT'S VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT WE ARE DOING IN HARFORD COUNTY AS WELL. SO THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY SEVEN OUT OF THE 25 DISTRICTS WITHIN THE STATE OF MARYLAND WHO ARE OFFERING TUTORING. ABOUT 20 OUT OF THE 25 DISTRICTS USE SOME SORT OF LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND FOR US IN HARFORD COUNTY, THAT WOULD BE IT'S LEARNING. SEVERAL DIFFERENT. UM COUNTIES ALSO ARE DOING SOME TYPE OF OFFICE HOURS WITH WITH THEIR STAFF, UM, NOT NECESSARILY THE CLASSROOM TEACHER OF A QUARANTINE STUDENT. BUT THERE ARE SOME SOME STAFF MEMBERS WHO ARE, UM, OFFERING SOME OFFICE HOURS. UM AND THEN ONE SYSTEM. THAT WAS AN OPTION THAT TEACHERS WOULD USE. STAFFING TO SUPPORT AT THE SCHOOL. SO FIVE OUT OF THE 25 SCHOOL DISTRICTS. ARE USING SOME TYPE OF STAFFING TO SUPPORT AT THE SCHOOL, UM WHETHER THAT BE A LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE, OR, UM, ONE SEC SCHOOL SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR HAD A AN OPTION OF A VIRTUAL TEACHER. IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT OF THE 25 SCHOOL SYSTEMS. ONLY ONE WAS DOING ANY TYPE OF HYBRID OR CONCURRENT TEACHING. AND THERE WAS ANOTHER COUNTY THAT WAS THAT ALLOWED TEACHERS AS AN OPTION. IF THEY WANTED TO TURN ON THEIR CAMERAS. THEY COULD. BUT UM, REALLY, THAT'S A. ONLY ONE OUT OF THE 25 LISTED THAT AS PART OF THEIR PLAN. AS WE LOOK AROUND TO OUR NEIGHBORS, OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTIES, MOST OF THEM ARE DOING A LOT OF WHAT WE ARE DOING. UM WE'RE PROVIDING WORK THAT TEACHERS WILL TOGETHER. AND THEN THEY ARE EXPERIENCE ARE WORKING. A SYNCHRONOUS ASYNCHRONOUS LEE, UM AS WELL AS, UM, PERHAPS HAVING SOME TUTORING IN THE EVENING OR IN OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL DAY. IN HARFORD COUNTY. OUR LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, AS I MENTIONED IS IT'S LEARNING.

SOME TEACHERS USE ONE NOTE, WHICH IS PART OF, UM, OUR MICROSOFT OFFICE PLATFORM. AND.

ALL OF OUR CURRICULUM, AND ALL OF THE TEACHER PLANS SHOULD BE HOUSED IN ITS LEARNING. UM ALL OF THE CURRICULUM WAS REWRITTEN LAST YEAR. IT WAS UPDATED THIS PAST SUMMER, AND IT IS HOUSED

[00:40:05]

IN ITS MIND SO ALL STUDENTS WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THAT. TEACHERS SHOULD BE USING ITS LEARNING TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR STUDENTS. USING THAT, UM ALL STUDENTS CAN WORK A SYNCHRONOUSLY ON THE ASSIGNMENTS AND FOLLOW ALONG WITH THE TEACHERS. IF THE IF A STUDENT NEEDS MANIPULATIVE OR AN INSTRUCTIONAL NOVEL OR A TEXTBOOK THAN THAT, AND THERE'S INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ARE SENT HOME, UM THE CHILD OR THIS STUDENT'S FAMILY WOULD COME TO SCHOOL TO PICK THAT UP. IN ADDITION TO HOW TEACHERS ARE MAKING SURE WANT STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM AND AS THEY WERE MOVING ALONG. WE ALSO DO PROVIDE SOME TUTORING AND OUR TUTORING PROGRAM IS HAS BEEN UP AND RUNNING FOR ABOUT A YEAR. WE STARTED WHEN COVID. REALLY BROKE OUT, AND WE WERE SORT OF THAT LAST SUMMER. AND. WE ALSO ARE ABLE TO ACCESS THE HARTFORD COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES TUTORING PROGRAM, WHICH IS AVAILABLE FROM 22 PM IN THE AFTERNOON UNTIL ABOUT MIDNIGHT.

AND THE LINKS FOR THAT THAT INFORMATION ALL THAT INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE. I DO HAVE WITH ME THIS EVENING, MR PHIL SNYDER. HE HAS BEEN, UM, REALLY TAKING THE LEAD WORKING WITH WE HAVE SOME TEACHER LEADERS WHO ARE SUPPORTING US WITH THIS PROGRAM AND COORDINATING WITH FAMILIES AND WITH PARENTS WHEN THEY ARE REQUESTING TUTOR. TO WITH AT THIS TIME, I'D LIKE TO TURN IT OVER TO HIM SO THAT HE CAN GIVE YOU A BIT MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT. OUR TUTORING PROGRAM. HOW MANY TWO YEARS WE HAVE CURRENTLY AND HOW WE ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS WITH THAT I WILL TURN IT OVER TO MR SNYDER. THANK YOU, DOCTOR. GOOD EVENING BOARD MEMBERS. I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU A BRIEF UPDATE THIS EVENING REGARDING THE ACADEMIC TUTORING PROGRAM. AND WHERE WE ARE CURRENTLY WE HAVE RIGHT NOW.

115. HTTPS STAFF MEMBERS WHO SERVED AS ACADEMIC TUTORS AND THEY MEET WITH STUDENTS. UH AFTER HOURS, IT COULD BE BEFORE SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL OR EVEN HAVE SESSIONS ON THE WEEKEND.

WE HAVE ON OUR WEBSITE ON A CPS .ORG, A FORM IN WHICH PARENTS CAN REQUEST A TUTOR AND, UH, THAT LINK IS AVAILABLE ON THE BANNER UNDER THE ACADEMIC TUTORING. IMAGE. WE ARE SERVICING STUDENTS IN PRE K THROUGH GRADE 12 AND PRE K THROUGH GREAT AIDS SERVICING STUDENTS IN READING AND MATHEMATICS. AND AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, WE'RE LOOKING AT THE CORE. SUBJECT AREAS. ENGLISH FAST SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES AND SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES. WE ARE SERVICING STUDENTS WHO NEED ONE OF THE COURSES REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION PURPOSES. AT THIS TIME WE'VE HAD 52 REQUESTS FROM PARENTS WHO HAVE THEIR STUDENTS TUTORED, AND ALL OF THOSE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN RECENTLY ASSIGNED TUTORS WITHIN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. AND DAILY. WE ARE GETTING ADDITIONAL REQUEST IN AND AS THEY COME IN. WE CONNECT THE STUDENT AND THE PARENT WITH A TUTOR THAT WOULD THEN ARRANGED TO, UM HAVE SOME SESSION TIMES WITH THEM GENERALLY, IF WE'RE TUTORING STUDENTS IN ONE SUBJECT AREA.

THE TUTOR IS GOING TO MEET WITH THAT STUDENT ABOUT AN HOUR. SOMETIMES WE HAVE STUDENTS WHO NEED TUTORING IN MULTIPLE CONTENTS ARE SUBJECT AREAS. IN THAT CASE, UH, WE WOULD HAVE ABOUT 45 TO AN HOUR SESSION. FOR EACH CONTENT AREA. SO HOPEFULLY THAT BRINGS YOU UP TO SPEED WHERE WE ARE WITH TUTORING. AND AT THIS POINT, I WILL TURN IT OVER TO YOU FOR ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE. OKAY SO WE'LL START WITH QUESTIONS. LET'S START OUR BORDER FOR THE EVENING. DR. HAROLD, YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION. THANK YOU. UM YES, AT THIS POINT, FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU, EVERYONE FOR SHARING THOSE UPDATES. I THINK THEY'RE VERY HELPFUL. UM COULD HAVE A QUESTION FOR MARRYING. CAN YOU ELABORATE? A LITTLE BIT MORE ON, UH, SOME OF THE EFFECT WITH REGARDS TO THE QUARANTINE, CLOSE CONTACT OR STUDENTS? UM YOU MENTIONED, UM THE TIMEFRAME FOR QUARANTINE WILL BE 10 DAYS. OF LIKE TO KNOW A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE MASKING PEACE. DID YOU ELABORATE? A LITTLE BIT MORE FOR ME, PLEASE? CERTAINLY THANK YOU, DOCTOR HAROLD, SO YOU ARE CORRECTED AS A 10 DAY QUARANTINE. THIS IS ALLOWED FOR THE CDC IS A SHORTENED TIME, UM, BASED ON COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION. UM WHAT WE'VE

[00:45:02]

BEEN DOING UP TO THIS POINT IS SORT OF CASTING ABROAD NET BECAUSE WE HAD COVID TRANSMISSION SO HIGH IN OUR COMMUNITY, AND SO WE WERE LOOKING FOR THOSE TIMES WHERE KIDS MAY HAVE BEEN A SLIGHT BIT CLOSER THAN THREE FT. JUST BASED ON THE FACT THAT WE'RE ALL BACK SO CLOSE TOGETHER. AND WE WERE QUARANTINING KIDS THAT WERE MASKED AT THE TIME. BUT MAYBE WE'RE A BIT CLOSER THAN THAT. THREE FT THAT WAS PERMITTED THROUGH THE CITY. SEE WHAT WE FOUND OVER THE FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL. UM IS THAT THOSE ARE THE STUDENTS WHO WERE NOT BECOMING POSITIVE FOR COVID. MANY OF THOSE STUDENTS WERE HOME FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, UM, AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE BECAUSE WE WERE NOT SEEING A HIGH RATE OF SECONDARY TRANSMISSION. SO THOSE SECONDARY ATTACK RATES HOW OFTEN DOES SCOLDED. UM HAPPENED TO THAT SECOND PERSON REALLY IS RELATED TO DISTANCE AND TIME AND ALSO MASKING AND YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, PERFECT WORLD. WE COULD HAVE ALL OF THOSE. BUT WE KNOW THAT WE WERE BACK INTO SCHOOL THAT THE MASKING HAS BEEN REALLY OVERLY POWERFUL FORCE AND NOT CAUSING A HIGH SECONDARY ATTACK RATE. AMONG KIDS THAT WHERE WE'RE SEEING TRANSMISSION IS REALLY WITHIN HOMES, SO IT'S OFTEN THE SIBLINGS AND OTHERS. SO WHEN WE'RE SITTING BESIDE, UM. CLAP A DESK BESIDE ANOTHER DESK. WE WERE ACTUALLY GOING IN THERE WITH ROLLERS AND MEASURING AND WHAT WE FOUND WAS THAT AGAIN. IT WAS EXTREMELY BROADEN US THAT SAME THAT WAS APPLIED EVEN ON BUSES WHERE WE KNOW KIDS. ARE VERY CONSISTENTLY MASKED. AND I WILL SAY THAT BECAUSE OF THAT MASKING MANDATE, UM WE FEEL STRUCK. WE FEEL COMFORTABLE IN THIS AT THIS POINT IN TIME, BUT WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO WATCH THAT METRIC. SO RATHER THAN. GOING ON TO THE SCHOOL BUSES WITH OUR TAPE MEASURES. UM WE'RE GOING TO ALERT FOLKS, OF COURSE, THAT COVID IS STILL IN THE COMMUNITY, AND I THINK IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO REALIZE THAT. KIDS ARE NOT JUST IN SCHOOL, SO THEY LIVE IN NEIGHBORHOODS. SO WHEN THEY'RE GETTING ON THOSE BUSES, THEY'RE COMING FROM NEIGHBORHOODS AND THERE'S SOMETIMES PLAYING TOGETHER, SO OUR NURSES ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO WHAT CONTACT TRACING SHOULD DO, WHICH IS BE VERY FOCUSED ON WHERE WE THINK TRANSMISSION IS MOST LIKELY. THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT KIDS WILL NEVER BE QUARANTINED IN A CLASSROOM. IT JUST MEANS THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE GOOD GOING THROUGH SEATING CHARTS, UM, VIDEO TAPES OF DIFFERENT AREAS, UM, AND PUTTING THAT TIME IN WHEN IT REALLY WASN'T SHOWING TO BE VERY FRUITFUL, SO THAT'S THE IDEA OF MORE PRECISE CONTACT, TRACING TAKING OUR TIME WITH FAMILIES TO DO. THOSE INTERVIEWS AND WE CAN DO THAT BECAUSE WE'RE STARTING TO SEE LOWER TRANSMISSION WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. OKAY THANK YOU, UM, SO FORTH. MY QUESTION. UM. WAS REALLY MORE GEARED TOWARD, UM. YEAH STUDENT A STUDENT SCENARIO WHERE A STUDENT TEST POSITIVE FOR KOBE, ANOTHER STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN MASKED, UM AND WITHIN OR AROUND THAT THREE FT. FOR 15 MINUTES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. UM THAT THEY WERE IN CONTACT WITH THE POSITIVE STUDENT. UM. I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD YOU WERE SAYING WAS THAT IF THE STUDENTS WERE MASKED THAT, UM, THE BOTH INTACT, UH, HOW YOU DETERMINE A CLOSE CONTACT WOULD BE CHANGED OR MODIFIED. IS THAT IS THAT RIGHT OR SO THE CDC ALREADY PERMITS THIS EXCEPTION, AND THAT EXCEPTION WAS THAT IF YOU REMAINED DISTANCED AND THE DISTANCE FOR STUDENT TO STUDENT NOT STUDENT TO ADOPT, BUT STUDENT TO STUDENT IS JUST THREE FT. AND SO IF YOU'VE REMAINED AT THE THREE FT DISTANCE, AND YOU'RE WEARING A MASK, THERE IS NO NEED TO QUARANTINE BUT WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING AS WE MOVE FORWARD SINCE OUR TRANSMISSION RATES ARE CALLING. DOWN IS TO NOT FOCUS ON THAT BROAD NET OF GOING INTO A CLASSROOM AND SAYING WHERE YOU 2.5 FT FOR 16 MINUTES. THE FACT IS THEY WERE MASKED. WE'VE DONE OUR BEST TO DISTANCE AND THE CLASSROOM SETTING IS NOT WHERE WE'RE SEEING THE TRANSMISSION. SO WE'RE GOING TO THEN LOOK FOR THOSE MORE CLOSE CONTACTS, OF COURSE, SIBLINGS, OTHER KIDS AND HOMES AND THEN ANY TIME WHERE UNMASKED. BECAUSE THAT'S REALLY WHERE WE'RE ABLE TO GET.

YOU KNOW WHERE WE THINK ARE BETTER RETURN ON INVESTMENT OF TIME IS WHICH IS TO LOOK AT THOSE UNMASKED TIMES LIKE BREAKFAST ON LUNCH AND ATHLETICS. WHERE WE KNOW THAT OUR RISK IS MUCH HIGHER THEIR HIGHER RISK ACTIVITIES. OKAY? SO WHAT I UNDERSTAND YOU TO BE SAYING IS. THE CONTEXT BASED ON WHAT WE LEARNED THE CONTEXT OF THE CLOTHES, CONTEXTS, UH, IN

[00:50:03]

OUR CONCERN, UM, CHANGED A LITTLE BIT. UM, AS TO WHERE. STUDENTS WHO MAY HAVE BEEN IN CLOSE CONTACT A LITTLE BIT LESS, PERHAPS, OF THEN THREE FT. WEARING A MASK OF STUDENTS WHO IS TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID. ARE NOT OF AS A BIG CONCERNS. UH AS COMPARED TO YOU KNOW THOSE TIMES WHERE STUDENTS ARE ABSOLUTELY UNMASKED DURING THE DAY, LIKE AT LUNCH. PERFECT THANK YOU, DOCTOR. HAROLD THERE ARE SOME NUANCES TO THIS AND I KNOW IT CAN BE A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH GOLD THAT HAS BEEN THAT IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND THESE BLACK AND WHITE AREAS. THERE ARE GRAY SHADES AND WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE AND THAT'S WHY I TRUST MY NURSES JUDGMENT HERE. UM AND THEY'RE INTERVIEWING ABILITIES TO WORK WITH KIDS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GETTING THE KIDS WHO ARE MOST LIKELY. TO HAVE A CASE OF COLBERT. UM AND ISOLATE AND QUARANTINE THEM. RIGHT AND SO MY LAST LITTLE THING IS THANK YOU FOR THIS. UM THIS IS VERY SWEET. IT'S MORE SWEET THAN ITS BITTER THE PARENTS WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH, UM THEIR KIDS BEING QUARANTINED AND THEY'RE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO BE HEARD FROM RIGHT. UM AND THERE'S STUDENTS HAVE LOST TIME IN THE SCHOOLS, AND, UM THEY'VE GONE THROUGH THAT WHOLE PROCESS. BUT WE HAVE TO USE WHAT WE LEARN TO INFORM US AS WE LOOK AHEAD, AND SO I'M GLAD FOR THIS CHANGE, AND I THANK YOU FOR THE EXPLANATION. WELL THANK YOU, DR HAROLD. I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS I WISH I WAS THROUGH COVID WAS CLAIRVOYANT. I COULDN'T HAVE ANTICIPATED THAT WE'D HAVE SEVEN DAYS AT 5% OR LESS. UM AND I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS I WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE IS WHEN THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES THAT WE MAKE. IT ISN'T BECAUSE WE'VE MADE A MISTAKE. IT'S BECAUSE WE'RE NOW MEETING NEW CHALLENGES AND USING NEW DATA, SO I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO THINK THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WERE DONE IN ERROR. IT'S JUST NOW AS WE HAVE DONE WITH COVID THROUGHOUT. THERE ARE INCREMENTAL CHANGES THAT WE DO REFLECTED ON THE DATA THAT WE HAVE. THANK YOU. UM DR BAUER HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? MY QUESTIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN COVERED. DR HAROLD AND MARY. THANK YOU. FREE. UH, DR PHILLIPS. UM MARY, AND REST OF YOU ALL DID A ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS JOB OF PRESENTING THAT. THANK YOU. UM, I JUST WANT TO MAKE ONE MORE LEAD OF THE COMMUNITY, AND I KNOW UM.

YOU KNOW, SOME PEOPLE PROBABLY GONNA COME DOWN ON ME FOR THIS, BUT. YOU KNOW WHAT WE'RE SEEING IN THE HOSPITAL, AND I DO HAVE SOME. DEGREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF THIS BEING A PHYSICIAN 40 YEARS WE'RE SEEING THE HOSPITAL BOARD SEEING AN I C. U. S. UM. IN ER S R. PRIMARILY PEOPLE. TWO.

HAVE NOT BEEN VACCINATED. UM IT, UM. IT IS A, UH, MITIGATION STRATEGY. TO PREVENT COVID AND THERE. OF COURSE, THEY'RE GOING TO BE BREAKTHROUGH CASES. THERE'S NOT A SINGLE MEDICATION, UM OUT THERE ANYWHERE THAT IS 100% EFFECTIVE IN, UM IN WHAT IT'S INTENDED TO DO, UH, BUT THE FACT IS THAT THE, UH. NUMBERS OF VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE GETTING SICK AND HOSPITALIZED AND DYING. UM COMPARED TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN VACCINATED ARE.

UM SO FAR APART. UM YOU KNOW, PEOPLE WANT TO SAY, LOOK, LOOK AT THE SCIENCE. IT'S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU LOOK AT THAT SCIENCE AND THERE'S ABSOLUTELY AND. SOME ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE. THE POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS OF THE VACCINE. UM. THIS HAS BEEN THIS HAS BEEN OUT NOW SINCE JULY OF OR RELEASED. A STUDY STARTED ROUGHLY IN JUNE OR JULY OF 2020. WE HAVE OVER 14 ROUGHLY 14 MONTHS, UM, KEEPING IN MIND THAT THE HALF LIFE OF, UH. OF THE VACCINE IS ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE DAYS. I'M LIKE THAT, UM, THE DRUGS OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM WITHIN TWO WEEKS. UM A DRUG BASICALLY GET, UH, METABOLIZED OUT OF THE SYSTEM TAKES ABOUT THREE HALF LIVES SO DRUG THAT HAS A HALF LIFE OF FIVE DAYS. IT'S PRETTY MUCH GONE AND IN TWO WEEKS. SO WE'VE SEEN THE MINIMAL NUMBER OF SIDE EFFECTS FROM, UH FROM VACCINES AND THE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT VACCINES TO WORK. SO MARY AND THE REST OF YOU ALL, THANKS SO MUCH, AND THAT'S MY PLEA TO THE COMMUNITY TODAY IF WE WANT TO TRY TO GET THIS IN OUR REVIEW MIRROR AS MUCH AS WE CAN TRY TO GET AWAY FROM MASKING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. UM THIS IS A STRATEGY THAT WILL CERTAINLY HELP US GET THERE. UH, QUICKLY OR QUICKER. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MISS KELLY. ANY QUESTION. YES I ALSO JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATIONS

[00:55:05]

WITH A LOT OF REALLY GOOD INFORMATION THAT ANSWERED A LOT OF THE QUESTIONS I HAD WRITTEN DOWN TO ASK THAT WE'VE BEEN HEARING FROM THE COMMUNITY. WHETHER YOU KNOW IN CONVERSATIONS OR, YOU KNOW, VIA EMAIL AND THAT SORT OF THING. UM I DID WANT TO EMPATHIZE WITH A LOT OF THE PARENTS OUT THERE THAT, UM THEIR KIDS HAVE MISSED SCHOOL. UM MY SON MISSED HIS FULL SECOND WEEK OF SCHOOL. UM WHILE WE WERE AWAITING HIS HIS, UM, TESTS TO COME BACK BECAUSE PCR TESTS SO. I CAN EMPATHIZE WITH THE FRUSTRATION OF HAVING TO REARRANGE WORK SCHEDULES AND STAY HOME AND, YOU KNOW PROVIDE THAT CARE, UM AND PROVIDE THAT TO BE THERE FOR HIM, UM. SO I WAS HAPPY TO HEAR YOU KNOW YOU REVEALING SOME OF THE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT LIKE THE TUTORING? UM AND YOU KNOW PROGRAMS ALONG THOSE LINES BECAUSE I THINK THOSE SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE PRETTY UNDERUTILIZED RIGHT NOW, AND I CAN SPEAK. ON BEHALF OF MY DAUGHTER. HE USED THE TUTORING LAST SUMMER, AND IT WAS PHENOMENAL, LIKE SHE LOOKED FORWARD TO HER TUTORING SESSION EVERY WEEK, AND IT WAS A REALLY GREAT SUPPORT FOR HER TO KIND OF KEEP UP WITH. THINGS OVER THE SUMMER. THE ONLY QUESTION THAT I DID HAVE, UM, JUST STEMMING FROM SOME CONVERSATIONS THAT I'VE. YOU KNOW, HEARD OR YOU KNOW HAD IS ONE QUESTION ABOUT MASKING. UM. WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR OUTSIDE LIKE PLAYGROUND PLAY GYM CLASS OUTSIDE. WHAT IS THE MASKING POLICY AROUND THAT? THIS IS 80. I CAN TAKE THAT QUESTION. SO THE MASKING POLICY OUTSIDE IS IF WE KNOW WE CAN'T SOCIALLY DISTANT AND WE ARE INTENTIONALLY IN SITUATIONS WHERE WE ARE NOT SOCIALLY DISTANCED, THEN MASK OR BE FIRED. BUT IF WE ARE OUTSIDE AND SOCIALLY SOCIAL DISTANCE, THEN WE CAN TAKE OUR MASKS OFF.

UM SO I KNOW THAT DIFFERENT SCHOOLS KIND OF HANDLE THAT IN TERMS OF RECESS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENTLY IN TERMS OF YOU KNOW, UM, REALLY PUTTING IT ON? UH, I, UH. AN EFFORT OF YOUR MASK ON BUT WHEN YOU'RE CLOSE TO SOMEONE ELSE TAKE IT OFF FOR THE OPPOSITE WAY. I HAVE 1/4 GRADER WHO TELLS ME ALL ABOUT THE WAYS THAT SHE TRIES TO GET AWAY FROM SOMEONE IF SHE'S NOT WEARING HER MASK, ETCETERA, UM AND SO THAT IS THE INTENTION. THERE IS ALSO IF WE'RE DOING HIGH INTENSITY EXERCISE AND MASS CAN REMOVE. BE REMOVED. SO WHEN WE'RE DOING THE CONTACT TRACING AND WHAT MARRIED DISCUSSED, UM WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT LUNCH AND BREAKFAST. BUT WE ALSO HAVE TO INCLUDE ANY TIME THAT WE'RE, UM DOING ATHLETICS OR TYPES OF SPORTS WHERE WE WOULD BE UNMASKED AND WE KNOW THAT WE MIGHT HAVE THAT CLOSER CONTACT. OKAY THANK YOU.

AND WHEN FOLLOW UP, SO ONE QUESTION THAT HAD TO COME UP WITH, YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE OUTSIDE. UM FOR RECESS AND YOU HAVE KIDS THAT ARE PLAYING? MAYBE IT SOUNDS LIKE A FENCED AND LIKE DODGEBALL, FORD OR BASKETBALL BOARD IF THEY'RE INSIDE OF THAT SENSE IN AREA, EVEN THOUGH IT'S A GOOD CHAIN LINK LINK SPINS. DO THEY NEED TO BE MASKED IN THAT SITUATION? WELL I WOULD HAVE TO KNOW HOW LARGE THE FENCES AND HOW MUCH TIME THERE HOW CLOSE THEY WOULD BE. BUT THE INTENTION IS OUTDOORS THAT IF THEY ARE HAVING ANY, UH, SOCIAL DISTANCING THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO WEAR THEIR MASKS, SO IT'S NOT NECESSARILY ABOUT THE BOUNDARY OF THE FENCE. IT'S ABOUT BEING OUTSIDE AND HAVING THE YOU KNOW NATURAL, VERY EFFECTIVE VENTILATION OF BEING OUTSIDE, UH, DOCTOR, BUT SHE DOES A GREAT PRESENTATION. THAT I'VE ACTUALLY SHARED WITH MY KIDS AND MY GIRL SCOUT TROOP ABOUT HOW WHEN WE BREATHE. WE HAVE A BUBBLE AROUND US. BUT WHEN WE'RE OUTSIDE AND WE BREATHE THAT BUBBLE JUST REALLY QUICKLY BREAKS UP. AND SO WE'RE NOT FOCUSING OUR EFFORTS, UM, IN TERMS OF MASKING OUTSIDE, IT IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED INDOORS BUT OUTDOORS. IF WE CAN TRY TO SOCIALLY DISTANCE, THEN STUDENTS CAN TAKE THEIR MASK OFF. OKAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. KELLY, LET ME JUMP IN FOR JUST A SECOND NIGHT. I'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT. I'VE I'VE NOW SINCE SCHOOL BEGAN I'VE BEEN TO EVERY ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS AND SEEING DIFFERENT THINGS. AND I AND I HAVE SEEN INSTANCES AND A COUPLE OF THE SCHOOLS, FOR EXAMPLE, ON THE LIKE THE JONESES. YOU MARRY A WHERE THE PLAYSET IS, AND IT HAS SORT OF A DEFINED AREA BECAUSE IT HAS TWO PADDED GROUND AROUND IT AND ALL THAT, BUT SOME OF THE SCHOOLS IS ESTABLISHED. IF YOU'RE IN THERE WERE STUDENTS TEND TO CONCENTRATE AND BE REALLY BE MUCH CLOSER. YOU KNOW, THEY'VE ASKED AT SCHOOLS THAT STUDENTS WERE THE MASKS WHEN THEY'RE IN THAT SPACE BUT IF THEY'RE OUT IN THE FIELD AREA, THEY'RE OUT AND WE'RE RUNNING AROUND TO. SCHOOLS HAVE TRIED TO COME UP WITH WAYS TO DIFFERENTIATE THAT AND WE HAVEN'T. SPECIFICALLY YOU KNOW, REQUIRED OR DENIED THE ABILITY FOR SUPPOSED TO SET SOME OF THOSE LOCAL POLICIES AROUND THAT. SO THAT MAYBE SOME, YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE GETTING QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT, THAT MAYBE WE'RE SOME OF IT IS WE

[01:00:01]

STILL ALLOW US FORCED TO MAKE SOME LOCAL DECISIONS, PARTICULARLY. BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEIR PLAYGROUNDS BEST. THEY KNOW WHERE THE KIDS CONGREGATE THE MOST, AND THAT'S THE TYPE OF THING THAT WE MAY SEE IN SOME PLACES, BUT THAT'S CERTAINLY NOT EVERYWHERE. OKAY.

THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE THAT. RIGHT, MR ROBINSON. GOOD EVENING. I HAVE ONE QUESTION, AND IT WAS. RAISED AND THE ABOUT ONE OF THE SPEAKERS. ONE OF THE PUBLIC COMMENT IS TONIGHT. AND I HAD A PARENT CALLED ME REGARDING THE UM, THE MANNER IN WHICH. CALM IT RELATED DATA IS COMMUNICATED TO ALL OF THE PARENTS AND THE CLASSROOM OF COVID IMPACTED STUDENT. AND SHE SHE TOLD ME A STORY OF HER, UM OR EIGHT YEAR OLD CAME HOME. ONE DAY, WE'LL JUST RECENTLY AND SAID, HEY, MOM, WE HAD 22 KIDS IN THE CLASS AT THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL, AND NOW WE ONLY HAVE SEVEN AND SHE ASKED. SHE HAS TO WATCH THE SAID, SHE SAID. I THINK IT'S BECAUSE OF COMPANIES. AND THE PARENT WAS A LITTLE UPSET THAT. SHE HAD TO LEARN THAT FROM HER FROM HER STUDENT, SO. GETTING YOUR SHARE WITH MM. WITH US AND THE PUBLIC. WHAT OUR POLICY IS AROUND THAT I AM. UM AND IF THERE IS A PROJECTED OR YOU PROJECT OR PRETEND, UH PREPARED. ARE YOU PREPARED TO CHANGE THAT? AND IF NOT, WHY NOT? WELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE QUESTION, MR ROBINSON. THIS IS MARRYING A SUIT OF THE SUPERVISOR. HEALTH SERVICES. UM I WILL ASSURE EVERYONE THAT WE HAVE OUTBREAK LETTERS OR IF THERE IS A CLASSROOM OR SCHOOL OUTBREAK THAT THE PRINCIPAL WOULD SEND HOME SO. CLEAR OF UNUSUAL FOR TO HEAR THAT THAT DIDN'T OCCUR HERE. AND I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON.

I CERTAINLY COULD INVESTIGATE IT FURTHER IF YOU WANT TO SEND ME DETAILS, BUT THE EMAIL, BUT GENERALLY IF THERE IS A SECOND CASE, YOU KNOW THERE ARE SINGLE CASES OF COVID BETTER.

HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY. BUT IF WE FIND THERE IS A SECOND CASE IN A CLASSROOM OR A COHORT, AND THEN WE HAVE AN OUTBREAK LETTER THAT WE CAN SEND TO THOSE THAT CLASSROOM AND THE PRINCIPLES HAVE THAT TEMPLATE ALREADY TO GO. THANK YOU. AND I WILL SHARE THAT INFORMATION.

BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ALL RIGHT, MISS HOLCOMB. OH DO YOU HAVE ONE MORE? NO, I WAS GOING TO SAY I HAVE NO FURTHER QUESTIONS. THANK YOU, SIR. MAN. WELCOME. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? UM NOW I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A COMMENT ABOUT VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S NOT IDEAL FOR MANY STUDENTS, BUT IT'S SOMETHING THAT'S NECESSARY STARTED REALLY ENCOURAGE PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO USE THE TUTORING RESOURCES THAT WAS MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY THAT STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO OTHER QUARANTINED AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE UPDATE. THANK YOU, DR MUELLER. ANY QUESTION. MORE JUST I WANT TO EMPHASIZE A COUPLE THINGS. UM. THAT THIS STATE MANDATE FOR MASKS SUPERSEDES ANYTHING THAT WE WOULD DO. AND THE OTHER THING IS THAT THE CURRENT PEOPLE THAT ARE CURRENTLY ON 14 DAY QUARANTINE. WHEN IT CHANGES TO 10 DAYS WILL BE REDUCED TO THE 10 DAY QUARANTINE. THAT'S CORRECT. DOCTOR MUELLER, THIS IS MARY MASSOUDA. SO IF WE HAVE FAMILIES WHO WANT THAT RECALCULATION, THEY CAN CALL THE SCHOOL KNOWING THAT TOMORROW MIGHT BE A BIT BUSY. BUT WHAT WE'RE HERE TO HELP THEM TO RECALCULATE. IT WOULD BE 10. DAYS AFTER THE LAST EXPOSURE THEY HAD TO A PERSON WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. AND THEN THE OTHER COMMENT I HAD RECEIVED FROM A PARENT WHO I KNOW. UM SHE WAS A LITTLE UPSET BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T FEEL THAT THE TEACHERS WERE GETTING THE HOMEWORK UP IN A TIMELY FASHION. AND SO I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT, UM STUDENTS THAT ARE OUT ON QUARANTINE HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE UP THEIR WORK. UM SHE WAS WORRIED THAT WHEN SHE GOES BACK TO SCHOOL, SHE'S GOING TO GET ALL THIS HOMEWORK AND. NOT HAVE TO DO DOUBLE WORK IN ORDER TO CATCH UP. BUT THAT'S JUST JUST, UH, MAKE SURE EVERYBODY IS PUTTING IT UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK THAT YOU'RE DOING. THAT'S IT. ALREADY. MY QUESTION IS ACTUALLY ABOUT BUILDING YOUTH. BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE ASKED ON MY OTHER QUESTION. SO OUR USE OF FACILITIES. WHAT WHAT WILL THAT LOOK LIKE? HOW WILL THAT CHANGE? YOU KNOW IF WE'VE GOT A. SOCCER TEAM WHO IS DOING SOME SORT OF. UM I DON'T KNOW. BINGO OR OR DRAWING OF SOME KIND. AND THEY NOW MOVE THAT INTO LAKE A LOBBY OF THE BUILDING TO SET UP

[01:05:05]

LIKE THINGS LIKE THAT, OR HOW HOW ARE WE MANAGING THAT? OH OPERATIONAL STATUS DOCUMENT THAT WILL BE RELEASED TOMORROW DOES SAY THAT USE OF FACILITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS AND THAT THEY'RE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW COVID 19 PROTOCOLS, INCLUDING MASSIVE MASKING AND DISTANCING WHERE POSSIBLE. WE DO EXPECT ORGANIZATIONS TO FOLLOW THEIR OWN COVID 19 PROTOCOLS, BUT WE WILL STILL REQUIRE MASKING BECAUSE THAT IS SOMETHING REQUIRED IN OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS. UM WHERE WE ARE ABLE TO WORK WITH AN ORGANIZATION LIKE WE ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH PARKS AND RECS WHERE THEY'RE KIND OF ALIGNED WITH OUR EFFORTS. UM, WE WILL DO THAT, WHERE POSSIBLE AND CONSULT WITH ANY OF THEM WITH REGARD TO THEIR COVID 19 PROTOCOLS, BUT IN THE IN THE ROLL OUT OF THE WAY THAT WE HAVE KIND OF CRAFTED OUR APPROACH. IS THAT WHEN WE'RE UNDER THAT 5% POSITIVITY, UM, WHERE WE FEEL A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE BEING OPEN. UM AND THEN IF OUR METRICS WERE TO SHOOT BACK UP, AND WE HAVE TO START THINKING ABOUT HOW TO MITIGATE THE COVID BACK DOWN, UM, WE MIGHT LOOK AT THAT AGAIN. UH MR BROWN? IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO ADD TO, UM TO THAT ASSESSMENT? I KNOW MISS HIS WAY YOU COVERED IT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU GUYS.

UM. I THINK THAT'S IT FOR THIS ONE. DOCTOR BOLSON DO ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO ADD? JUST. YOU KNOW, QUICK SUMMARY THERE ACTUALLY WAS. THE CDC POSTED A NEW RESEARCH STUDY HONEST WEBSITE ON FRIDAY DATED SEPTEMBER 24TH AND THE OVERARCHING FINDINGS FROM THIS PARTICULAR STUDY BECAUSE THEY WERE ABLE TO LOOK AT HOW SCHOOLS HAVE OPENED. WAS PRETTY SIMPLY STATED SCHOOLS WITHOUT MASS REQUIREMENTS. FOR 3.5 TIMES MORE LIKELY TO HAVE A COVID 19 OUTBREAK COMPARED WITH SCHOOLS AND STARTED THE YEAR WITH MASS REQUIREMENTS. UM YOU KNOW, AS ALWAYS, WE'RE KIND OF WATCHING WHAT THE. THE RESEARCH IS SAYING, PARTICULARLY THE GARY VIEWED, SORT OF VETTED, RESEARCHED. AND. YOU KNOW, THIS WAS PRETTY CLEAR FINDING ABOUT THE EFFICACY OF THE MASK MANDATES. AND SO I KNOW IT HASN'T BEEN POPULAR, AND I THINK I'VE ACKNOWLEDGED FROM THE BEGINNING THAT. NONE OF US ENJOY WEARING THE MASKS, AND WE REALLY HOPE TO HAVE THEM BEHIND US BY THIS POINT, BUT THEY ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE, AND THAT'S A BIG PART OF WHY WE'RE ABLE TO MAKE THE CHANGES WE RECOMMENDED TONIGHT. UM YOU KNOW WHERE WE REALLY DO HOPE THAT WE ARE SEEING DOWNTURN AND IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE HIT WITH ANOTHER BIG CHANGE THAT COMES BACK COMES BACK TO GET US THE WAY DELTA DID. UM I FEEL LIKE FOR A LONG TIME WE'VE BEEN ASKING PEOPLE JUST WE'RE ALMOST THERE.

JUST KIND OF THAT. WE CAN SEE THAT WE SEE SOME VERSION OF THE FINISH LINE. WE COULD SEE A PLACE WHERE WE CAN BE BETTER AND. YOU KNOW TOO MANY TIMES THAT THE VIRUS HAS, UM, KIND OF TURNED ON US AND MADE IT HARDER AND I THINK. YOU KNOW, SO IN A WAY, YOU KNOW, IT'S GREAT TO SEE THE KIDS IN SCHOOL. IT'S GREAT TO, YOU KNOW, GO INTO THE CLASSROOMS AND SEE I MEAN, YOU'RE DOING THEIR WORK AND SOME CASES, YOU KNOW, IT LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERENT BECAUSE A THEY'RE WEARING MASKS WOULD BE IN SOME CASES. YEAH, WE HAVE THE STUDENTS A LITTLE MORE SPREAD OUT THAN YOU MIGHT NORMALLY HAVE THEM. UM. BUT YOU KNOW, COMPARED TO WHERE WE WERE A YEAR AGO. UH WHERE? YOU KNOW, WE'RE VERY FAR ALONG AND YOU KNOW WE'RE DOING THIS AT A TIME WHEN THE TRANSMISSION AMONG KIDS SO MUCH GREATER THAN IT WAS A YEAR AGO, BUT IT'S STILL I MEAN, WE ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN THE IMPORTANCE. TELLING THE KIDS IN SCHOOL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BUT THESE DISRUPTIONS FOR THE QUARANTINES AND ISOLATIONS THEY'RE TREMENDOUSLY FRUSTRATING TO EVERYBODY. AND, UM. YOU KNOW, SO I KNOW NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT BUT WE DO ASK FOR AS I SAID, YOU KNOW, CONTINUE GRACE ON THIS. WE'RE GONNA WE'RE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GET KIDS BACK AND IN SCHOOLS AND THEY GET EVERYONE BACK IN AND SO WE'RE GOING TO KEEP WATCHING. WHAT THE DATE IS TELLING US. YOU KNOW AGAIN. WE'RE EXCITED. IT SEEMS TO BE TAKING A BETTER TERM RIGHT NOW. BUT YOU KNOW, WE NEED TO WATCH. AND I WILL ALSO CLOSE WITH WHAT THE OTHER SAID. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF THE YOU KNOW TO THE ENTIRE TEAM. OF EMPLOYEES THAT ALSO TO THE PARENTS WHO YOU KNOW HAD TO BE IN A SITUATION TO BE BOTH UNDERSTANDING, BUT ALSO, YOU KNOW, CARRY THAT LOAD OF THE STUDENTS BEING HOME A LITTLE BIT LONGER, AND I KNOW THAT THAT PUTS A LOT OF PEOPLE IN A DIFFICULT POSITION. AND SO YOU KNOW, WE'RE WORKING TO GET THEM BACK AS SOON AS WE CAN BE ABSOLUTELY EMPATHIZE WITH THAT.

SO, UM AS TO DR HAROLD. HANDS UP AGAIN? YES. ONE LAST QUESTION, OKAY? UH, THANK YOU.

[01:10:01]

UM I JUST FIND TO LOOK. FOR SORRY ABOUT THAT. I WAS TRYING TO LOOKING FOR THE TOURING, UM, BLINK. UM ON GUESS .ORG COULD NOT FIND IT. OKAY IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S I JUST JUST POPPED UP.

IT'S IN THE SCROLLING. UM BANNER. IS IT ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE FIGHTER NOW? HELLO THIS IS PHIL SNYDER, SUPERVISOR ACCOUNTABILITY. THE LINK IS ALSO IN THE ACADEMIC INFORMATION. PAGE. OKAY? ALL RIGHT. AND THEN I JUST HAD ANOTHER. UM I HAD ANOTHER COMMON INTERVIEW HERE. MY CHILDREN IN THE BACKGROUND THERE AROUND SOMEWHERE, GETTING A LITTLE ANTSY. UM, BUT APOLOGIZES DANCE IF YOU DO. UM I WANTED TO KIND OF GO BACK TO, UM, DANCING'S INQUIRY AND JUST KIND OF FOLLOW UP A LITTLE BIT. UM HE ASKED SPECIFICALLY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT I WAS. THAT WAS KIND OF IN MY MIND AS WELL. I THOUGHT I ANSWERED, BUT, UM, HE MENTIONED THAT COMMUNITY MEMBER, UM, BEARING THAT NOT MOST INFORMATION HAD BEEN PROVIDED FROM THE SCHOOL. UM. AND THEN MARY HAD MENTIONED THE OUTBREAK AND HOW OUTBREAK LETTERS ARE PROVIDED. BUT WHAT ABOUT IS THIS IF IT'S NOT CONSIDERED AN OUTBREAK, AND, UM YOU KNOW CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN EXPOSED HAVE QUARANTINE. UM. YOU KNOW, MY FI SUN IS, YOU KNOW, OUT OF SCHOOL TO, UM, FOR THAT REASON AND. NOT A WHOLE LOT OF INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED NEITHER, UM AND. SO I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF WE HAVE PLANS AS TO WHERE YOU KNOW, PARENT AND BE PROVIDED MORE INFORMATION. ABOUT THIS SCENARIO, UM. AND THEN IN ADDITION TO THAT, UH AND I'LL PREFACE BY SAYING IT DOES FEEL VERY ISOLATING, YOU KNOW, UM, A PARENT IN THE PUBLIC COMMENT MENTIONED IT FELT LIKE FISH IN IT. BECAUSE THERE ISN'T VERY MUCH THAT WE'VE EXPERIENCED, UM HOMER WAY OF CREATING SOME FORM OF CONNECTIVITY OR COMMUNITY AMONG PARENTS. AND STUDENTS WHO ARE IN THAT QUARANTINE. UM IT FEELS VERY ISOLATED. UM UH, I KNOW I SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT YOU KNOW, WE'LL STILL CAN WE CONNECT WITH OTHER, YOU KNOW, PARENTS. WHO MAY BE IN THE SAME POSITION WITH US AND IT WAS LIKE NO, IT'S CONFIDENTIAL.

THAT TYPE OF THING. SO THAT'S MY CURIOSITY BECAUSE. MY CONCERN IS THAT YOU KNOW THAT I'M SURE WE'RE ALL CONCERNED ABOUT IT IS, YOU KNOW, LEARNING LOSS FOR OUR KIDS AND BEHIND, PARTICULARLY SO EARLY ON, BUT REALLY ANY TIME DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. SO IN SOMEONE SPEAK TO THAT AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE PLANS TO CONNECT OUR FAMILIES AROUND THIS SITUATION THAT WE KNOW IT'S NOT GOING AWAY. SAID DR HAROLD, I'LL START WITH THE LAST PART OF THE QUESTION THE PLAN TO CONNECT OUR FAMILIES BECAUSE I THINK THAT PUTS US IN ITS. YOU KNOW, IT'S HARD ENOUGH WHEN WE'RE CONSIDERING THE PRIVACY CONSIDERATIONS. I MEAN, SOME OF OUR ISSUES WE'RE DEALING WITH INDIVIDUAL CASES HAS BEEN, YOU KNOW, SHARING INFORMATION THAT THEN MAKES A STUDENT IDENTIFIABLE, AND THAT'S BEEN ONE OF THE CHALLENGES SINCE THE BEGINNING. SO THE IDEA CONNECTING FAMILIES FROM THEIR COLUMNISTS. I THINK IT KIND OF OPENS US UP IN A LOT OF PLACES WITH REGARD TO PRIVACY. UM NOT THAT THERE THAT WE COULDN'T THINK THROUGH SOME WAY OF DOING THAT, BUT THAT'S NOT SOMETHING WE NECESSARILY LOOKED AT. I DON'T KNOW IF. UM SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO TALK MORE ABOUT THE NOTIFICATION WITH THE INDIVIDUAL CASES AND HOW YOU KNOW WHERE WE DRAW THAT LINE BECAUSE I KNOW THE IDEA OF BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY INDIVIDUALS. IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN A CONCERN. THANK YOU. DR OLSON'S MAIRENA SUDHA. SO UM, AS WE TALKED ABOUT THOSE OUTBREAK LETTERS ARE DEFINITELY ALREADY READY TO GO. AND THAT'S OUTBREAK SOUNDS KIND OF BIGGER THAN IT IS. IT'S REALLY JUST TWO CASES THAT ARE EPIDEMIOLOGICALLY LINKED IN A CLASSROOM OR COHORT. SO IT DOESN'T TAKE A LOT TO GENERATE THAT, BUT I THINK IT'S INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT WE'VE HAD JUST FIVE CASES, FIVE DIFFERENT OUTBREAKS. UM RIGHT NOW THAT ARE LISTED, SO THAT'S IT'S NOT A LOT, BUT WE CERTAINLY WILL GET THAT OUT. I THINK THE OTHER THING THAT, UM I'LL CERTAINLY WORK WITH MY STAFF ON IS THAT WE DO HAVE SOME. INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES A LETTER THAT GOES HOME EXPLAINING QUARANTINE OR ISOLATION AND SOME, UM, RESOURCES FROM THE CDC. WE CERTAINLY I'LL MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE GOING OUT MORE

[01:15:01]

CONSISTENTLY IF THEY HAVEN'T BEEN BECAUSE I THINK THAT DOES HELP TO GIVE FAMILIES SOME, UM.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION OR I HAVE LET SOMEONE ELSE SPEAK TO THE EDUCATION LAST EXPO. OKAY I'M GOING TO FOLLOW UP ON DR HERALDS QUESTION WITH ANOTHER QUESTION. WHEN WHEN MY SCHOOL NURSE SEND KIDS HOME. WE HAVE A PAPER THAT WAS HANDED TO THE PARENTS TELLING THEM YOU KNOW? NOT ONLY YOU KNOW THIS COVID PROTOCOL BUT ALSO HEAR THE THINGS AVAILABLE TO YOUR KIDS. HERE'S WEBSITE FOR TUTORS. HERE'S THE WEBSITE FOR THIS.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CHECK THERE. I MEAN FOR US AT SCHOOL, AJE. IS THAT SOMETHING THAT SCHOOLS CAN PUT TOGETHER AND HAND PARENTS THE DAY UNDERSTAND? BECAUSE WHEN YOU GET THAT DIAGNOSIS, AND YOU'RE KIND OF RUSHING IN TO GET YOUR KID AND KIND OF RUSHING OUT TO GET THEM AWAY FROM PEOPLE, YOU'RE NOT EXACTLY THINKING OF EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO ASK. AND HAVING THAT PAPER IN HAND. MAY HELP YOU GET YOUR KIDS STARTED ON WHATEVER IT IS, THEY MAY BE NOTHING, BUT THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE CAN HAVE SCHOOLS PUT TOGETHER. I THINK THAT'S SOMETHING WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU ON AS WE HAVEN'T BEEN DOING THAT SPECIFICALLY, IT DOESN'T MEAN I MEAN, IT SOUNDS LIKE A WORKABLE IDEA. BUT LET'S UH, LET ME HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF MINUTE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THAT WITH 15. SOUNDS GOOD. ALRIGHT WITH THAT ANYTHING FURTHER. WE WANT TO ADD, OR SHALL WE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ITEM? I THINK I JUST WANT TO PUSH A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TO SHARE THAT. UH TO SIMPLY ASK PARENTS IF YOU KNOW THEY WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN, UM YOU KNOW, SOME TYPE OF BIRTH WAR. THEY WOULDN'T MIND. UM. CONNECTING WITH OTHER PARENTS SO THAT THEIR STUDENTS COULD BENEFIT WHILE THEY WERE IN QUARANTINE. UM THERE HAS TO BE A WORK AROUND. I THINK THAT IT MAY BE. UH UM I THINK THAT THE BENEFITS ARE OUTWEIGH. ANY RISKS, UM, ASSOCIATED WITH PRIVACY. UM BECAUSE YOU KNOW STUDENTS ARE BEING YOU KNOW, ISOLATED, UM AND THEY'RE LOSING THEIR COMMUNITY WHEN THEY ARE IN QUARANTINE. UM AND THEY'RE NOT THOSE IN THE MANY OF THEM. AS YOU KNOW, WE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER. I'M NOT SICK. UM. AND I DON'T THINK THAT THE LETTERS, UM, PROVIDING INFORMATION TO THE PARENTS, ARE YOU? IT SOUNDS BASED ON OUR CONVERSATION THAT THEY'RE NOT BEING USED AND DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM WIDE. SO I JUST WANT TO, UM, ENCOURAGE US TO DO THAT AS WELL. THANKS. RIGHT ANYONE ELSE? OKAY WITH

[G. Quarterly Financial Report for the Period Ending June 30, 2021, Ms. Deborah Judd, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services]

RICHARDSON. THANK YOU. NEXT STEP. WE HAVE THE QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDING JUNE 30TH 2021, MISS JUDD. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT GO TA, VICE PRESIDENT MUELLER, DOCTOR BOLSON AND BOARD MEMBERS. I WILL SHARE MY SCREEN. OKAY. CAN YOU SEE THAT? OKAY. I CAN SEE EM. PERFECT THANK YOU. OKAY THIS EVENING. I AM PRESENTING THE QUARTERLY FINANCIALS FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER, WHICH IS THE FULL YEAR FOR THE PERIOD IN JUNE. 30 2021. AS A REMINDER.

THESE ARE PRELIMINARY FINANCIALS. IT IS DRAFT. OUR AUDIT IS STILL, UH, IN THE WORKS, BUT IT'S ALMOST FINAL. IT WILL BE FINAL BY THURSDAY. WE'RE NOT EXPECTING ANY MAJOR CHANGES, BUT THERE COULD BE A FEW BETWEEN. NOW AND THEN I DID PRESENT TO THE AUDIT COMMITTEE LAST WEEK AND I WILL READ REVIEW THE PRESENTATION WITH YOU NOW THE OCTOBER 25TH BOARD MEETING. I WILL BE BACK WITH THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ALONG WITH OUR INDEPENDENT AUDITORS TO REVIEW UH, FULL AUDIT AT THAT TIME. NOT A LOT HAS CHANGED SINCE THE THIRD QUARTER. IN OUR PROJECTIONS, WE ARE WE DO HAVE A FAVORABLE. VARIANCE IN REVENUES OF 14 MILLION. MOST OF THAT IS IN THAT OTHER LINE THAT YOU SEE. THE DETAIL OF THAT LINE IS ON THE SLIDE. YOU CAN SEE WE'RE SHORT ABOUT $1.4 MILLION IN TOTAL TUITION FEES. THESE ARE REALLY THINGS THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC. UM, AND THE CLOSURE SO THERE. WE DID NOT HAVE THAT REVENUE COME IN. BUT IF YOU CAN SEE THE MAIN LINE OF THE SETTLEMENTS, HEALTH AND DENTAL OF $15.6 MILLION, THAT IS OUR CARE FIRST AND DELTA DENTAL SETTLEMENT FOR THE YEAR THERE WAS A SURPLUS AVAILABLE IN THE RATE STABILIZATION THAT WE WERE ABLE TO WITHDRAW, AND WE DID PULL MONEY OUT AT THAT TIME. OUR EXPENDITURE LINES WERE UNDER BUDGET IN EVERY AREA THAT IS REALLY A RESULT OF THE. DIFFERENT OPERATION SCHEDULE LAST YEAR RELATED TO THE PANDEMIC YOU CAN SEE THE LARGEST AREAS ITSELF IS FROM STUDENT TRANSPORTATION, AND THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE RUNNING. THE BUS IS LESS THAN WE HAD THEN. SO OVERALL 95% OF OUR BUDGET WAS SPENT WHICH IS LOWER. WE ARE MUCH CLOSER TO 100% EACH YEAR, BUT IT DID CONTRIBUTE 23 MILLION IN SAVINGS. FOR FY 21. AND THEN OUR FUND BALANCE. THEY PROJECTED EXCESSIVE REVENUES OVER EXPENDITURES AGAIN THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE ACCESS REVENUES AS WELL AS THE SAVINGS AND THE EXPENDITURE LINE ON THIS $38 MILLION. THE TOTAL FUND BALANCE THAT JULY 1ST 2020 WAS 13.7 MILLION. TWO MILLION OF THAT WAS ASSIGNED FOR THE FY 21 BUDGET TO BALANCE OUR BUDGET. WE ASSIGN $2 MILLION.

THE TOTAL ASSIGNMENTS ARE JUNE 30 2021, OR 26.2 MILLION, AND WE ALSO HAVE AN ASSIGNMENT FOR INVENTORY. A JUNE 3400 AND 33,000, WHICH BRINGS ARE BALANCED. OF UNASSIGNED FUN BALANCE PROJECTED TO BE 23.1 MILLION, AND I WANT TO GO INTO THAT DETAIL A LITTLE BIT MORE SO TWO MILLION AGAIN IS RECOGNIZED AS REVENUE ABOVE, WHICH WAS THE ASSIGNMENT FOR THE FUND BALANCE IN THE CURRENT YEAR, 2021 CURRENT LAST YEAR ASSIGNED FOR EMERGENCY FUEL IS $1 MILLION. ASSIGNED FOR THE 22 BUDGET IS ALMOST $3 MILLION, AND THEN WE ACTUALLY ASKED FOR AN APPROVAL AT THE END OF LAST YEAR TO ASSIGN 17 MILLION TO TRANSFER TO THE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND THAT TRANSFER ACTUALLY OCCURRED. JULY JULY ONE. WE HAVE 1.2 MILLION ASSIGNED FOR THE FUTURE TRANSFERRED THE FOOD SERVICES FUND. WE MAY BE ABLE TO RELEASE THIS ASSIGNMENT. I WANT TO SEE WHAT THE YEAR LOOKS LIKE THIS YEAR. WE WERE SHORT LAST YEAR WITH THE OPERATIONAL SCHEDULE AND, UM, WE HAD SALARIES, BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE REVENUES. SO THEY LOST QUITE A BIT OF MONEY. HOWEVER AT THE END OF THE YEAR, THE F HARVARD COUNTY GOVERNMENT CAME FORWARD AND THEY HAD ADDITIONAL CARES. ACT FUNDS AVAILABLE, SO THEY ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THAT HAD BEEN UNREIMBURSED. TO THE SCHOOL SYSTEM FROM OUR OWN

[01:25:01]

CARERS ACT MONEY, AND WE WERE ABLE TO PUT FORTH SOME OF THE FOOD SERVICE COSTS THAT HAD NOT BEEN REIMBURSED. SO. AS OF THE END OF FY 21, THEIR FUND BALANCES WHERE WE WOULD HAVE EXPECTED IT TO BE SO DEPENDING ON HOW THIS YEAR LOOKS. WE MAY BE ABLE TO RELEASE THAT. BUT.

WE HAVE AGAIN A DIFFERENT YEAR WHERE ALL STUDENTS ARE FREE. UH, WE DO HAVE MANY OPEN POSITIONS SO THERE WILL BE SOME NATURAL SAVINGS IN THE FUND THIS YEAR. SO WE'LL KEEP AN EYE ON IT. BUT THAT MAY BE MONEY THAT WILL BE ABLE TO RELEASE AT SOME POINT THIS YEAR. THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE ASSIGNMENT FOR OUR FUTURE LEASE PAYMENTS, WHICH WE'VE TALKED ABOUT. THESE ARE FOR OUR DEVICES, TEACHER AND STUDENT DEVICES. WE ARE BUILDING MONEY INTO THE BUDGET TO PAY THOSE LACES EVERY YEAR AS THEY COME DUE. BUT BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE THOSE FUNDS AVAILABLE. WE HAVE A SIGN THAT HERE FOR A YEAR WHERE WE MAY NOT HAVE FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE LEASE PAYMENTS. AND THEN, OF COURSE, OUR INVENTORY SO THE TOTAL ASSIGNMENT IS 28.3 MILLION, WHICH TAKES ARE PROJECTED ON A SIGN DOWN TO THE 23.1, WHICH IS ABOUT 4.6% OF OUR BUDGET. THAT IS THE HIGHEST, UH, UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE THAT WE'VE HAD SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE. UM MISS GOODY. MR. ROBINSON YOU HAVE BEEN HERE ALL ALONG WERE FUND BALANCES DIPPED QUITE LOW. SO I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT. HOWEVER I WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT THE FUND BALANCE IS FOR ONE TIME PURPOSES. WE DO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF REVENUE COMING IN FROM OUR FEDERAL FUNDS. AND ONCE THOSE FUNDS HAVE GONE IN MANY CASES WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE EXPENDITURES ASSIGNED TO THOSE FUNDS AND BRING MANY OF THEM OVER INTO THE OPERATING BUDGET, SO WE WILL NEED A SURPLUS LIKE THIS IN ORDER TO HELP GET US THROUGH. THAT PERIOD OF TIME WHEN THE FUNDING DRIES UP IF YOU WILL, FROM THOSE RESTRICTED GRANTS, SO WITH THAT, I'M HAPPY TO TAKE ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. ALL RIGHT, DR. HAROLD, ANY QUESTION. DR HAROLD ANY QUESTIONS? THEY HAVE GOTTEN DISTRACTED. HOW ABOUT DR BAUER? ANY QUESTIONS FOR MR I HAVE NO QUESTIONS. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU, DR PHILLIPS.

ANY QUESTION. I DO NOT HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT. MISS KELLY. NO QUESTIONS. THANK YOU. MR ROBINSON. DONE FOR ME. MISS HOLCOMB. NO QUESTION. THANK YOU. DR MUELLER. I HAVE NO QUESTIONS EITHER, BUT THANK YOU FOR THE THOROUGH REPORT. ALL RIGHT. LET ME TRY ONE MORE TIME. DOCTOR HAROLD. ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. NO, I HAVE NO QUESTION. OKAY AND I HAVE NO QUESTIONS EITHER. BUT YES, MISS DEAD. I REMEMBER SOME.

VERY VERY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS ARE FUN BALANCE THAT INCREDIBLY LOW AND. YOU'RE TALKING ME OFF A LEDGE, A COUPLE OF TIMES GOING. OH, MY GOD. WHAT WE GONNA DO WHAT HAPPENS IF. THOUGH I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME AND EFFORT AND YOUR TEAM'S TIME AND EFFORT. ACTUALLY PRETTY PHENOMENAL, AND I DON'T THINK MOST PEOPLE. REALLY REALLY TAKEN IN HOW AMAZING THOSE NUMBERS REALLY ARE. THROUGH. NICE TO SAY YES, IT REALLY IS. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU.

[ H. Presentation of Proposed 2022-2023 Harford County Public Schools Calendar, Ms. Jillian Lader, Manager of Communications]

ALL RIGHT, OUR NEXT ITEM PRESENTATION OF PROPOSED 2022 2023 HARFORD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS CALENDAR. MS LATER. THANK YOU, UM. I AM GONNA PULL UP MY PRESENTATION. SO YOU ALL CAN SEE THAT. PRESIDENT GLORIA DO YOU MIND CONFIRMING THAT YOU CAN SEE THAT ON THE SCREEN? SO FAR. I DON'T OH, YES, THERE IT IS. JUST POPPED UP. OKAY, GREAT. UM RIGHT. SO UH, WE HAD OUR FIRST CALENDAR COMMITTEE MEETING ON AUGUST 25TH TO GO OVER THE PROPOSED CALENDAR FOR THE 2022 2023 SCHOOL YEAR. I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THOSE THAT WORK ON THE BOARD APPOINTED COMMITTEE. EVERYONE CAME TOGETHER AND HAD SOME GREAT DIALOGUE. SO JUST AS A REMINDER THIS EVENING IS JUST TO PRESENT THE CALENDAR OPTIONS THAT THE COMMITTEE HAVE IDENTIFIED FOR THE BOARD AND FOR THE PUBLIC TO CONSIDER. AFTER THIS EVENING'S PRESENTATION, THOSE CALENDAR OPTIONS GO OUT FOR 60 DAYS OF PUBLIC COMMENT. WE HAVE NOTED ON THE PRESENTATION FOR YOU THAT THAT PUBLIC COMMENT WILL END NOVEMBER 26TH. WE WILL DO AS WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST AND PROVIDED THE BOARD WITH AN UPDATE THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS OF THAT FEEDBACK THAT WE'RE

[01:30:03]

GETTING FROM THE COMMUNITY, WHICH WILL. WILL BE ENCOURAGING STAFF, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT FEEDBACK PROCESS. THE CALENDAR COMMITTEE WILL COME BACK TOGETHER AGAIN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THAT FEEDBACK AS WELL. ON DECEMBER 1ST, AND THEN I WILL COME BACK BEFORE YOU ON DECEMBER 20TH TO PROVIDE THE BOARD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO AHEAD AND VOTE. ON THAT 2022 2023 CALENDAR. IT'S HARD. I ALWAYS STRUGGLE AND I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WE ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT THAT. THE FIRST THING THAT I WANTED TO GO OVER WITH YOU IS A REMINDER OF THOSE ITEMS THAT WE HAVE TO INCLUDE IN THE CALENDAR WHEN WE ARE CREATING THE CALENDAR FOR THE OUT YEAR. FIRST OF WHICH BEING 180 DAYS FOR STUDENTS SECOND BEING 190 DAYS FOR TEACHERS, AND THEN WE ALL KNOW THAT WE HAVE THOSE OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS THAT ARE IN THE NEGOTIATED AGREEMENTS, AND THOSE ARE LISTED FOR YOU THERE AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE BOARD OBSERVANCES. THESE ARE HOLIDAYS AND OR EVENTS THAT THE BOARD HAS TYPICALLY OBSERVED THROUGHOUT THROUGHOUT HCPS HISTORY. THEN OF COURSE, WE HAVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BEST PRACTICES THAT WE TRY TO OBSERVE WHEN WE ARE BUILDING THOSE CALENDARS AND THE BOARD POLICY THAT I INCLUDED. HERE IS A SPECIFIC NOTE ABOUT INCLUDING A MINIMUM OF SIX INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS. IN ADDITION TO THAT, BEING IN THE BOARD POLICY, THE MARYLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF ED HAS ALSO IN RECENT MONTHS SHARED THAT THEY EXPECT IMPLEMENT WHETHER DAYS BUILT INTO OUR SCHOOL YEAR. BUT AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE HAVE ALSO PULLED OUR COMMUNITY. AS TO HOW THE COMMUNITY WANTS TO SEE THOSE INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS, UM, HANDLED WHETHER THEY WOULD BE VIRTUAL ASYNCHRONOUS SYNCHRONOUS OR IF WE WOULD HAVE THAT TRADITIONAL SNOW DAY EVENT. THAT REGARDLESS OF THE RESULTS OF THOSE OF THAT SURVEY, AND LEADERSHIP IS STILL HAVING CONVERSATIONS AROUND THAT INFORMATION, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING IT WITH THE COMMUNITY. BUT REGARDLESS OF THE RESULTS OF THAT WE DO BECAUSE OF THE BOARD POLICY HAVE TO INCLUDE THOSE SIX IMPLEMENT WEATHER DAYS IN THE CALENDAR, SO JUST SO THAT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS WHY WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE THOSE IN THE CALENDAR. SO THIS YEAR, WE HAD SOME GREAT CONVERSATIONS THE FIRST AND PROBABLY THE ONE THAT WE SPENT THE MOST TIME ON I HAVE TO THANK DR BAUER FOR BRINGING TO THE FLOOR OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING BEING THE START DATE FOR THE 22 23 SCHOOL YEAR. AND THEN, OF COURSE, WE HAD A LOT OF CONVERSATION ABOUT TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND WHERE THE BEST PLACES TO PUT THOSE FULL DAY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLOSURES TO STUDENTS THAT STAFF CAN FOCUS ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS THOSE MONTHLY EARLY DISMISSALS THAT WE SEE THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. BOARD OBSERVED. HOLIDAYS ARE ALWAYS A TOPIC OF CONVERSATION AT OUR CALENDAR COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND, WELL, WE ALSO SPENT SOME TIME SPEAKING SPECIFICALLY ABOUT DATES IN NOVEMBER BECAUSE OF THE TIMING AROUND ELECTION DAYS, AND WHAT HAS TRADITIONALLY BEEN ELEMENTARY CONFERENCES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WE'VE SEEN CHANGING OVER RECENT YEARS. AND THEN, OF COURSE, THAT THANKSGIVING BREAK. WE HAD A LOT OF CONVERSATION ABOUT WHAT WOULD WORK BEST FOR STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND, OF COURSE, OUR STAFF. THE OTHER TOPIC THAT HAD EXTENSIVE CONVERSATION WAS AROUND SPRING BREAK. WE HEAR OFTEN WE HEAR FEEDBACK ABOUT FAMILIES WANTING A LONGER SPRING BREAK, AND WE TALKED AT LENGTH ABOUT THAT IN THE COMMITTEE. AND THEN THE FINAL THING THAT WE ALWAYS LIKE TO STRESS IS THAT IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING THOSE FOUR WEEKS OF INSTRUCTION FOR CONSISTENCY FOR STUDENTS FOR CONTINUITY OF LEARNING. THOSE ARE THINGS THAT WE ALWAYS LOOK AT AS THE AS THE CALENDAR COMMITTEE, AND THAT HAS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS BEEN SOMETHING THAT WE'VE WE HAVE WANTED TO MAINTAIN. SO I WILL PREFACE THIS WITH I HAVE TO CALENDAR OPTIONS TO PRESENT TO YOU THIS EVENING. UM AND THAT GOES BACK TO THAT FIRST BULLET THAT I HAVE HERE ABOUT THE START DATE FOR THE 22 23 SCHOOL YEAR, DR BAUER BROUGHT TO THE FLOOR OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING THE CONVERSATION AROUND WHEN WE START SCHOOL AND HOW THAT THEN IMPACTS THE REMAINDER OF THE CALENDAR AND WHAT WE CAN DO. IF WE LOOK AT THE START DATE. SO THE FIRST CALENDAR PROPOSAL THAT WE HAVE WOULD START IN AUGUST, SO YOU'LL SEE. I'M GOING TO WALK THROUGH EACH MONTH JUST TO WALK YOU THROUGH THESE COLOR CODED BOXES TO HELP US ALL UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT OF THE START DATE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. SO AUGUST 18TH AND 19TH YOU SEE ARE OUTLINED IN THOSE PINK BOXES. THOSE WOULD BE THE TWO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS FOR NEW HIRES. THE 22ND THROUGH THE 26 WOULD BE THE FIVE FULL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS. FOUR STAFF RETURNING STAFF. AND THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR K THROUGH 12, AUGUST 29TH AND PRE K ON AUGUST 31ST THAT WOULD THEN BE FOLLOWED BY IN THE FOLLOWING WEEK ON SEPTEMBER 5TH WE WOULD BE CLOSED IN OBSERVANCE OF LABOR DAY. AND THEN OUR FIRST EARLY DISMISSAL FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF, WHILE STUDENTS ARE RELEASED EARLY WOULD BE SEPTEMBER 23RD AND SEPTEMBER 26 WOULD BE IN OBSERVANCE OF THE JEWISH HOLIDAY OF ROSH HASHANAH. OCTOBER 5TH WOULD BE IN OBSERVANCE OF YOM COMPORT, FOLLOWED BY AN EARLY DISMISSAL ON OCTOBER 13TH LEADING INTO THE MSC A CONVENTION DATE, WHICH IS ALSO A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY FOR STAFF ON OCTOBER 14TH. NOVEMBER 8TH IS

[01:35:03]

ELECTIONS IN THE 2022 YEAR, THE 11TH WOULD BE AN EARLY DISMISSAL. AND THE 21ST TO 23RD WILL BE A CLOSURE FOR STAFF FOR STUDENTS. I APOLOGIZE. THEY WOULD BE FULL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS FOR STAFF AND THEN THE CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS AND OFFICES ON THE 24TH AND 25TH AND OBSERVANCE OF THE HOLIDAY. SO JUST TO REITERATE THAT WEEK OF NOVEMBER 21ST 25TH THE ENTIRE WEEK WILL BE CLOSED TO STUDENTS. THEN DECEMBER, 9TH WOULD BE OUR NEXT EARLY DISMISSAL AGAIN AS A REMINDER THAT PROVIDES THAT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR STAFF. DECEMBER 23RD EARLY DISMISSAL, WHICH IS AN OUTLINE OF PURPLE IS AN EARLY DISMISSAL FOR SCHOOLS AND OFFICES LEADING INTO THE WINTER BREAK FROM DECEMBER 26 THROUGH JANUARY 2ND. JANUARY 13TH WOULD BE THAT MONTHS EARLY DISMISSAL LEADING INTO THE 16TH AND OBSERVANCE, THE CLOSURE AND OBSERVANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY FEBRUARY, 17TH WOULD BE THE EARLY DISMISSAL, LEADING INTO THE CLOSURE ON THE 20TH OF SCHOOLS AND OFFICES AND OBSERVANCE OF PRESIDENT'S DAY. YOU'LL NOTICE IN MARCH. WE HAVE TWO EARLY DISMISSALS, THE 10TH AND THEN THE 31ST. THE 31ST LEADS INTO A FULL WEEK CLOSURE PLUS ONE DAY FOR SPRING BREAK.

THE REASON THAT THOSE TWO EARLY DISMISSALS ARE IN MARCH IS PARTLY BECAUSE WITHOUT FULL CLOSURE IN APRIL AND WITH TESTING WINDOWS AND THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON, WE DIDN'T WANT TO PUT ANOTHER EARLY DISMISSAL IN APRIL. UH AND THEN, OF COURSE, THE NEXT EARLY DISMISSAL IS MAY 26TH AND THEN THE CLOSURE ON THE 29TH FROM AN OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY AND THAT WOULD ALLOW HCPS TO HAVE THEIR LAST DAY FOR PRE K ON JUNE 7TH. AND THEN FOR ALL OTHER GRADES ON JUNE 9TH, BARRING ANY INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS HAVE TO BE BUILT INTO THAT CALENDAR. THE NEXT SCREEN SHOT IS GOING TO SHOW YOU JUST A BREAKDOWN OF ALL THOSE DATES. SO IN CASE YOU JUST LIKE TO SEE IT LISTED OUT THOSE ARE LISTED THERE, SO I WON'T GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN.

UM, AND AS YOU'RE ABSORBING THE CONCEPT OF STARTING ON AUGUST 29TH FOR THE 22 23 SCHOOL YEAR.

WE ALSO ARE SHOWING YOU WHAT THAT CALENDAR COULD LOOK LIKE IF, UH, THAT DATE WAS PUSHED BACK IN THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. YOU SEE IT MARKED IN RED ON SEPTEMBER, 6TH FOLLOWED LABOR DAY. SO REAL QUICKLY. THAT WOULD MEAN THAT THAT NEW HIRES WOULD BEGIN AUGUST 25TH RETURNING STAFF WOULD COME BACK FOR PD STARTING THAT WEEK OF AUGUST, 29TH AND AGAIN THE FIRST DAY FOR STUDENTS WOULD BE SEPTEMBER 6TH, FOLLOWED BY PRE K ON SEPTEMBER 8TH. YOU'LL SEE THAT THE DAILY CLOSURES AND EARLY DISMISSALS REMAIN THE SAME AS A NEW ORIGINAL PROPOSAL UNTIL WE GET TO MARCH IN MARCH THAT EARLY DISMISSAL IS MOVED TO MARCH. 17TH. AND THEN YOU'LL SEE AN APRIL IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE ENDING THE SCHOOL YEAR AS CLOSELY TO THE SAME TIMEFRAME AS WE DO WITH THAT AUGUST START DATE. THAT SPRING BREAK IS MINIMIZED TO THOSE NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT. UH, HOLIDAY CLOSURES. AND YOU'LL SEE THAT THAT THEN ENDS THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR PRE K ON JUNE 8TH. AND THEN IF NO IMPLEMENT WEATHERMAN, NO INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS ARE UTILIZED FOR THE REST OF THE GRADES. IT WOULD BE MONDAY, JUNE 12TH.

AGAIN WE LIST OUT ALL OF THOSE DATES AND HOW THAT WOULD LOOK IN THE NEXT SLIDE. AND JUST AS A REMINDER, SO THIS IS NOW THESE ARE THE TWO PROPOSALS THAT HAVE BEEN SET FORTH BY THE CALENDAR COMMITTEE. WE POSE THAT FOR 60 DAYS IS A PUBLIC COMMENT SO NEW THIS YEAR WHAT WE HAVE DESIGNED AS A SURVEY TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THESE CALENDARS.

THIS SURVEY IS LINKED WILL BE LINKED ON THE WEBSITE AFTER THIS PRESENTATION. THE SURVEY ALLOWS STAFF PARENTS GUARDIANS COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SAY IF THEY LIKE THE CALENDAR THAT STARTS AUGUST 29TH IF THEY LIKE THAT CALENDAR, BUT THEY WANT TO SEE CHANGES TO IT OR IF THEY DON'T LIKE THAT CALENDAR IF THEY LIKE THE CALENDAR THAT STARTS ON SEPTEMBER, 6TH. IF THEY LIKE THAT CALENDAR, BUT THEY WANT TO SEE SOME CHANGES AND IF THEY DON'T LIKE EITHER OF THE PROPOSED CALENDARS, IT ALSO PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO BUILD THEIR OWN CALENDAR, REMINDING THEM OF WHAT THE REQUIREMENTS ARE SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE A RECOMMENDATION FOR A COMPLETELY NEW START DATE. AND RECOGNIZE AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY CHECK OFF ALL THOSE REQUIREMENTS, BUILD THEIR CALENDAR AND TELL US HOW THEY GET TO THEIR ND AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY INCORPORATE ALL OF THOSE ITEMS. SO THIS EVENING THAT WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION DROPPED DOWN. IT'LL BE THE FIRST ITEM THERE SO THAT WE CAN HOPEFULLY HELP HELP OUR COMMUNITY. GET TO THAT SURVEY TO HELP US AND TO PROVIDE THAT FEEDBACK THAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR, UM, FOR YOU TO CONSIDER IN DEVELOPING YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE 2022 2023 SCHOOL YEAR. SO I AM GOING TO GO BACK TO THAT CALENDAR PAGE JUST TO REMIND THE BOARD OF WHAT THAT TIMETABLE LOOKS LIKE, AND AT THIS POINT PRESIDENT GO TO IF I CAN HAND IT BACK TO YOU. AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME. YES MA'AM,

[01:40:04]

RIGHT AND QUESTIONS FOR MONTHS LATER, JOYCE. NO QUESTIONS. THANKS. ALL RIGHT, DR BAUER. NO QUESTIONS. THANK YOU. DR PHYLLIS NO QUESTION. THANK YOU. MISS KELLY. NO QUESTION. THANK YOU. MR ROBINSON. NO QUESTIONS. JUST A COMMENT. I LIKE THE AD IDEA OF, UH, THE NEW APPROACH TO ALLOWING HOW WE ALLOW, UH, PUBLIC TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCESS. OKAY AND MS WELCOME. I HAVE NO QUESTIONS. THANK YOU. DR MILLER. NO QUESTIONS, BUT I DO WANT TO ECHO WHAT MR ROBINSON SAID THAT I REALLY DO APPRECIATE HAVING THE ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. THANK YOU. I AGREE, AND I SEE DR BOLTON HAS BANNED UP. WHAT WHAT'S YOUR QUESTION, SIR? OR COMMON? SORRY MORE AND MORE COMMENT THAN A QUESTION JUST SOMETHING TO WATCH AND THEN TWO ATTENDANTS AND TRIED. WE HAD THE SUPERINTENDENT'S MEETING ON FRIDAY AND STATE SUPERINTENDENT ATTENDED AND THERE'S BEEN, UM. WE'VE ASKED TO GET SOME CLARITY FROM THE STATE BOARD ABOUT WHAT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE AND HOW THEY'RE GONNA CONSIDER ATTENDANCE WITH REGARD TO VIRTUAL DAYS AND NO DISTRICTS HAVE EXPLORED THE POSSIBILITY.

USING THE VIRTUAL DAYS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. AND IN THE ORIGINAL SERVING, WE PUT OUT QUITE A LOT OF RESPONSES. UM WE ASKED THE QUESTION WHETHER YOU KNOW WE WOULD LIKE TO USE VIRTUAL INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS INSTEAD OF INCLEMENT WEATHER. AND IF WE GAVE WOULD SHOULD THEY BE SYNCHRONOUS OR ASYNCHRONOUS? UM AND WE HAD FEEDBACK AROUND ALL OF THOSE, AND I KNOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THE CONVERSATIONS AROUND THE CALENDAR. I JUST WOULD ENCOURAGE PEOPLE KEEP AN EYE ON THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION. I SUSPECT OVER THE NEXT MEETING OR TWO, THEY WILL BE DISCUSSING ATTENDANCE AND WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO ALLOW WITH REGARD TO THAT GOING FORWARD. I DON'T KNOW THAT WE WILL HAVE THE FULL RANGE OF ASYNCHRONOUS SYNCHRONOUS, YOU KNOW, OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO US, UM. BUT SO THAT'S JUST SOMETHING TO WATCH THAT WILL AFFECT FUTURE CALENDARS, BUT IT MAY ALSO AFFECT IMPLEMENT WHETHER THIS YEAR AS DISTRICTS ARE WAITING FOR AN ANSWER FROM THE STATE BOARD, IN CASE WE, I MEAN, BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO BE APPROACHING THAT TIME PRETTY SOON. SO JUST SOMETHING TO WATCH. UM BUT I THINK AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS AS YOU SEE THIS TAKE BOARD ACT ON THAT THAT MIGHT BE SOMETHING THAT AFFECTS THE INPUT WE RECEIVED FROM THE COMMUNITY AROUND. YOU KNOW HOW WE WANT IT TO LOOK ON FORWARD. OR ANY THEN.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ANYBODY HAS FOR THE CALENDAR. THIS LATER WE'LL BE BACK AGAIN. AND SHE WILL HAVE MORE DATA FOR US AS THE PARENTS ARE FILLING OUT THEIR PREFERENCES AND OPINIONS

BROWN. THANK YOU. HAVE A GOOD EVENING. YOU TWO ALL RIGHT, DR. BOLTON WE'RE BACK TO YOU AGAIN.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. THANK YOU SO MUCH UH, JUST A COUPLE OF COMMENTS TONIGHT AS EVERYONE IS AWARE THE BALANCING ENROLLMENT RECOMMENDATIONS. MY RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD WENT LIVE ON. SEPTEMBER 14TH LAST WEEK, WE HAD TWO OF THE COMMUNITY INPUT SESSIONS. WE DID THEM VIRTUALLY, BUT THEY IT WAS NICE TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO POP INTO THE SMALL GROUPS THAT PEOPLE BROKE INTO AND ENGAGE WITH THEM IN THE CONVERSATIONS. AS USUAL, THE QUESTIONS WERE. WE'RE THOUGHTFUL, AND I BELIEVE SOMETHING THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT AS WE WORK TOWARD A FINAL RECOMMENDATION, THE THIRD AND FINAL INPUT SESSION WILL TAKE PLACE THIS THURSDAY, AND THE PEOPLE WANTED FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THAT.

IT IS, UM WE HAVE A WHOLE SIGHTS SET ASIDE FOR BOUNCING ENROLLMENT CAN GET YOU FROM OUR HOMEPAGE. UM LET ME CAREFULLY SAY BLUE THAT SCENE CLINIC INFORMATION WAS SENT LAST WEEK TO FAMILIES. UM BUT I REALLY DO ENCOURAGE ALL FAMILIES TO CONSIDER SIGNING UP. ALRIGHT LAST YEAR FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS. WE DIDN'T SEE YOU KNOW HUGE IMPACT OF THE BLUE. ONE OF THE REASONS WE REALLY HOPE PEOPLE WILL TAKE IT VERY SERIOUSLY. IS UM, BECAUSE IT'S SO HARD TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE SYMPTOMS OF FLU AND COVID. YOU KNOW, THE MORE WE CAN DO TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE ARE STAYING HEALTHY. IT'S JUST SO IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE GET THOSE FLU SHOTS. SO THAT YOU KNOW WE'RE NOT IN A PLACE WHERE WE'RE SEEING KIDS COMING IN WITH SYMPTOMS OR ADULTS COMING IN WITH SYMPTOMS AND, YOU KNOW, WE CAN'T DISTINGUISH WITH MOVING BECAUSE WE'VE HAD TO LOOK VERY CAREFULLY. AND, UM, SO PLEASE, PLEASE INFORMATION WAS SET LAST WEEK. AND YOU KNOW, THE MORE THE PEOPLE GO OUT AND GET THEIR SHOTS, AND IT'S JUST SUCH A CRITICAL THING. UM. OUR PARENT ACADEMY WEBSITE. WE HAVE MORE COMING BASIC PS DOT ORG AND FACEBOOK ARE THE WAYS YOU CAN GET TO PARENT CANDY. I KNOW WE HAVE SOME UPCOMING SESSIONS, BUT WE'RE ALL ALWAYS PUTTING INFORMATION IN THERE. THE FAMILIES CAN USE TO, UM, HELP SUPPORT HELP THEM SUPPORT THEIR CHILDREN AND KIND OF LEARN MORE ABOUT SOME OF THE WORK GOING ON IN SCHOOL, SO I REALLY DO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO LOVE. WE HAVE A LONG LIST OF PRESENTATIONS IN PIECES THAT HAVE BEEN DONE, SO PLEASE JUST TAKE A LOOK THERE. AND I WILL

[01:50:02]
